ScreenRant and SuperHeroHype are choosing sides in for the upcoming Iron Man / Whiplash throwdown. They each have exclusive new Iron Man 2 IMAX posters, one of Whiplash in profile, and Shellhead in his traveling suit. Add to that, a new clip over at MSN, and it’s a troika of promo material you might like to check out. And just in case you need it, I borrowed the official synopsis from Collider below. I can.
What no Iron Man reboot? No tweener Tony Stark? What about the tweens?!?!? Don't they deserve a cool 19 y.o. Iron (tween) Man with cool hair, clear skin and a hit pop song? I mean, it's been two movies already! Let's reboot this sucker.
Does anyone else feel the possibility that we're going to get slightly let down by this? Like, Superman Returns style?
I mean, I feel like the hype-train is really revving too much for this, and people are just going to be underwhelmed by it. The beauty of Iron Man was no one really gave a shit about it —
I feel like I notice the exact same action set-pieces in every trailer, which is either a good or a bad thing, they're either holding back a lot, or they're throwing it all on the table.
But, I'm personally not expecting too much, really Downey's charm just has to drive it — some visual-effects badassery, and I'm a happy camper.
The biggest success of the first movie was successfully modernizing Iron Man, something just about every other attempt at a comic origin movie has failed at miserably. I think the best thing to do is to have the story in this follow along that path, and really use it as build-up for the Avengers. The best goal Marvel could possibly have for this is to aim to make people leave the theater saying, 'I can't fucking wait for Thor, Cap, Avengers, etc'.
Gotta love these awful sequel posters that just show some random character and the number 2. 2 what? who gives a shit.
Yeah, I'm a little nervous about this one two, but that's secretly, on the inside. That's why I'm airing out these opinions on a message board, instead of with friends, because I want to keep that hype and hope up. But what concerns me is that it looks like Whiplash is only in one scene. Then what? He helps Rockwell make lame looking robots? I'm hoping all the trailers left out a final battle where he's in all his Crimson Dynamo glory, but I kind of doubt it. But then again what the fuck do we know about this movie besides the characters in it? Not much. And that's pretty cool.
Agree with #7, the lack of spoilerish info on this film is getting me pumped for its release. If I'm getting the available plot right, Rourke's Vanko is the son of the original Dynamo, helping Hammer to produce an army of Dreadnaught-type armor for the US based on his dads designs. Really hoping for this to develop into a thread involving the Avengers film, I know Hulk is the fan-favorite for an adversary in that flick, but I'd have a screaming geekgasm if they found a way to throw the Maggia(Count Nefaria, Silvermane, Madame Masque, et al) Mandarin, Dynamo and Red Skull at the Avengers for a full-on thinking mans fight of the century.
With all the hype LAST SPRING about this movie while it was in production I thought it already came out…
