There’s a show on TV that I rather enjoy called River Monsters. Perhaps you’ve seen it. It’s sort of like one of those bass fishing shows on CMT or ESPN, except that the angler, Jeremy Wade’s, accent is decidedly British rather thasn Southern and he doesn’t spend the entire show in the boat with a six pack talkin’ ’bout how them fish is bitin’ today. Plus the things he’s going after put up a hell of a lot more fight than a large mouth bass. Anyway, what I really like about the show is that Wade is pulling some asininely large and hideous fish out of
the water every show. It’s not like MonsterQuest where they spend the entire hour jerking off with little or no results. Wade goes after something, he gets it.
The point I’m getting to in my own roundabout way is that River Monsters always delivers the goods. And that’s exactly what I’m hoping for from Piranha 3D, which is now up over at Yahoo! Movies. It’s got a fairly loaded cast in Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Steven R. McQueen, Dina Meyer, Kelly Brook (who will be naked in this or at least in a wet t-shirt if there is a God), Ricardo Chavira, Richard Dreyfuss, Jerry O’Connell, Christopher Lloyd and Eli Roth. Looks like it’s got all the necessary elements (and many of the necessary cliches). Piranha 3D premieres August 27th.
Thanks to Brian for the tip.

Did I just see the pirhana creating a whirlpool to kill a guy in a boat?
Awesome.
They had me at THIS PARTICULAR PIRANHA.
#2 – i'd agree. Lloyd being in this seals the deal. Sounds like he's doin his Doc Brown voice.
Marty!
why is Eli Roth still allowed to enter movie sets / locations..?
fuck was it good to hear christopher lloyds voice in a movie again. nice.
Was that Richard Dreyfuss in the whirlpool boat? Holy shit, the end times have come. Everything good is now corned shit. Eli Roth's presence only seals the deal.
Frankly, that looks great, give or take some spotty CG. But c'mon. They cast Christopher Lloyd as the voice of reason here. They have Ving wielding an outboard motor at a herd of fish. They have Dreyfus in need of a bigger boat again. It's everything I like!
This is the film of the summer.
The Doc, Hooper, Vern AND Ali (with an i) in the same film?! With killer fish! Here's hoping for some excellent blood thirsty kills, a few decent real boobies and no more than a 90 minute running time. Just a shame that Joe Dante isn't involved here.
Expect a 10 out of 10 review from Devin, just a week or 2 after "The Devin's Advocate: You're All a Bunch of Ignorant Fucks With Shitty Taste in Movies, and That's Why Scott Pilgrim Failed and Why It's Your Fault That Comedy is Dead". I expect that the title might be shortened to something a little snappier though.
Lol to #11. I’m still waiting for: “The Devin’s Advocate – My top 10 projects I was too lazy to Fucking Finish”. The list includes Chudsploitation and Startrekkin’, but number one would have to be “The top 30 Non mainstream films of 2010”, a list that won’t be finished by 2012.
I criticize Devin a lot for his bizarre issues & consider him to be a truly bad person, but there's no way you can call him lazy. The dude cranks out content nonstop, and as bizarre and hateful as much of it is there is very little filler. Sure, he seems to have a hard time with these article series he dreams up, but I don't think you can say it's because he's lazy.
Can we not overlook Party Down's fucking awesome ADAM SCOTT. He really needs a higher profile. He's one talented mother fucker.
If anything, I hope this movie finally teaches people to not act like total douchebags when a law enforcement official wants to close the beach due to animals in the water that want to eat you.
Did anyone else notice that the final shot in the trailer is reminiscent of "Alien 3?" Not a good sign. I still have high hopes for this movie though.
fuck you guys… i will love this movie, regardless how shit it turns out to be.
Ha. River Monsters is a great show. I have nothing else to add.
