The trailer for The American, the second film from music video director Anton Corbijn, looks amazing but I have to wonder how the story plays out. There are so many beautiful shots in beautiful locations that seem to have little connection. It sort of looks like a montage of scenes from a movie that doesn’t exist.
Thanks to Brian for the heads up.

…As long as he doesn't get blown up like he did at the end of Syriana….
gotta love the 'retiring-after-one-more-job' setup : / i hope more movies start doing this!
Yes. Sign me up. Clooney and Corbjin are both legitimate artists trying to do good work in a corporate environment, and this trailer looks like good commercial art. Moody and not quite centered. The "one last job by an aged criminal" plot can be bent to almost any purpose, depending on who's using it (think RIFIFI or HEAT for some good examples), and I've been waiting for years for Corbjin to have his chance with a big boldface story like this one. Maybe it's getting easier to verify these posts? I'm used to trying half a dozen times at least, and so I apologize for spamming this board, but I want to give it one more try: Verification attempts: 1
This one has completely crept up on me, probably as I don't check movie news as much as I used to, but it looks great. It's just jumped into the list of things I'm looking forward to, somewhere near the top.
I liked this movie when it was called The Transporter. This remake is about as unoriginal and melodramtic as a lifetime movie!
George Clooney = Sam Fischer
Hollywood. Make it happen.
