Syfy has put up a set of four character banners from the upcoming Jonah Hex. These are ok, if unspectacular I suppose. I just hope that, despite the bad word of mouth the film is getting, it’s a fun time. But I can’t help but keep getting this Ghost Rider vibe off the thing. John Malkovich looking like Sam Elliott’s O.G. Rider ain’t helping. You can click over to Syfy for the full banners. Jonah Hex is in theatres June 18th.

I wonder how much studios waste on doing character-specific promotional materials like this. Do they make more of the ones with main characters or actors or ones they'd be likely to sell through studio stores and other outlets? I work at a theater where we have a limited number of display cases and an even more limited amount of usable wall space for large banners (not to mention floor space for standees), and I'd bet money that in any location that has to make a decision about which 1 or 2 pieces to display out of 4 or more, that the Fassbender piece is never going to see the light of day.
FASSBENDER GETS HIS FIRST POSTER!! Life is good.
I work at a movie theater as well and we have never ran out of space to display promo materials. I'm in charge of ordering them and dealing with the exhibitor relations reps and I take everything and anything we can get. It is quite possible we don't get everything though because we aren't in the biggest market. These Jonah Hex banners… suck though. We had a triad of banners similar to these for The Crazies as well and they were pretty boring as well.
I'm in a small market in a big chain, and I don't think we get much say in what we get outside of us directly requesting something. Just last week we got a Despicable Me standee that woud take up a ridiculous amount of space that we just don't have a spot for, and we'll often get entire character one-sheet sets or a crazy number of copies of posters, more than ANYONE would ever need. Paramount seemed to be particularly wasteful with their materials for the longest time, and I'm convinced that there are still some "Paycheck" posters lurking in the shadows somewhere. We got the Crazies banners too and had room for all of those, but that was also at a time where we didn't have nearly as much crap in our lobby. When it comes to square footage, we're pretty large for a 10-plex, but it's so open and the usable wall space is all busted up by doorways and things that we can't use as much of it as we;d like.
