With the Lost finale still fresh in our minds, the erstwhile Mr. Eko, Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje, who turned down a chance to reprise his role in said finale, isn’t dwelling on that decision, as he’s already lined up his next gig. ShockTillYouDrop has word that Adewale has signed onto The Thing prequel, which is already shooting in Canada. AAA will portray the role of “Derek.” No other info is known about the role at this point.
The Thing is being directed by Dutch filmmaker, Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton and Jonathan Lloyd Walker and focuses on the Norwegian Antarctic expedition that first discovered the Thing in the ice before it ultimately made its way to the American base to party with MacReady and the gang. AAA was most recently seen as Heavy Duty in G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra. He also has Faster coming up with Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino and fellow Lost alumnus, Maggie Grace.

Is he really so busy that he had to turn away from Lost?
Hope they won't mind when he breaks his contract after three weeks of shooting and leaves the production.
I find it hilarious how afraid Universal is afraid to say that this Thing prequel is actually a remake. Seriously, people–it's the SAME story.

To #1: The issue wasn't about AAA being busy, he just wanted five times the pay they had offered him to appear on the finale.
I'm sure Adewale would rather be recognised for his work on the awesome show Oz. Rather than the miserable shit-fest LOST. Even though I'd watch Mary Elizabeth Winstead in anything (even Final Destination 3) this The Thing remake can never hope to live up to Carpenter's film.
