In the story about the new Scott Pilgrim vs the World character banners I told you that when the Scott Pilgrim Facebook page hits 100,000 fans Universal would release the new trailer.
Well, it did. And they did.
For some dumbass reason said trailer is not embeddable, so you’re going to have to click here to watch the awesomeness at hand Actually you should be able to watch the trailer below. Thanks to @IAmKent for the info. I think that the second half of the trailer really showcases how this movie is not just special, but truly in the exact same spirit as the comic, and how Michael Cera makes a great Scott Pilgrim.

I haven't read the last two books, and
I had my concerns, but they are now completely gone. Goddamn.
Well… the trailer didn't highlight how most of the books are just "down time" in which you find most of the hilarity… but the action? God damn. I MEAN GOD DAMN.
Can't seem to get it to work here (Don't think I'm blocking anything) but the facebook link works. Looks like a shit-load of fun, but maybe only for those acclimated to that sort of stylization . It's a style that could easily just confuse the shit out of prospective audiences. They may also think Cera is doing same-old same-old, though it looks different to me. Finally caught up with Youth in Revolt. More enjoyable than I expected, making the standard smart sensitive loser-boy archetype work for his unlikely over-smart nutbag fantasy girl archetype. Loved Cera's turn as Francoise(sp?). I think he has a lot more skill/range than he's given credit for, just that his roles so far inhabit very similar terrain.
In a perfect world a Scott Pilgrim movie would be animated, but whatever, this looks sweet.
How Edgar… How Michael… How did you manager to capture every single bit of Gaming love that I have in me!!!! In one goddamn trailer! I NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!
This looks FANTASTIC.
God DAMN. Michael Cera may have actually nailed the character!
And if you thought Watchmen bombed at the boxoffice…
this looks stupid and will flop.
Two (and a half) things:
1. The trailer still isn't embedded below, (1/2. …and perhaps you should'nt insult folks for innocently pointing this out).
2. The unnecessary exclamation marks on all of your SP posts has reached an AICN-level of punctuation hyperbole.
Yep, this hipster turd has bomb written all over it.
The "We'll release the trailer when…" thing sounds like a line of shit, though it is amusing to think of studios sitting on trailers that will never be seen because 100,000 people didn't "like" the film on Facebook. I'd like to imagine that decades from now, when some poor intern is going through the vaults of 20th Century Fox, they'll discover a never-before-seen 3rd trailer for "Marmaduke" or something
This is sort of conflicting. The trailer looks pretty damn good, and the style seems to work, but Michael Cera seems extra annoying in this–and I actually like Michael Cera, despite the fact that he plays the same character all the time. But something about his voice in this trailer makes my skin crawl
fucking epic
It's definitely a better trailer than previously. They cut out the worst Cera-Whining, and featured more comic booky fighting. But Cera is still Cera, deadpanning his way through the whole thing without any real excitement, and every one else in the cast is deadpanning their wey through their lines as well. Why did Wright make that artistic choice? Is he trying to make live actors seem like comic book people who don't move? It makes no sense. When we read a comic, we IMAGINE the people moving, expressing emotion. If we see a live movie we want that implied motion and Emotion to be realized, not a dopey Homage to Comic Bookishness.
As excited as I am about this movie, just given Universal's track record lately, I'm almost certain it's going to tank.
I honestly hope it doesn't, but I dunno, what was the last gonzo "aimed at geeks" property? Snakes on a Plane? While not Universal's fault, I think it's a pretty keen example that just because everybody on the internet says they can't wait for this movie, doesn't mean they'll see it in the theater.
Fuck me this looks awesome!
Everything except cera looks awesome. Cera looks too nerdy, Scott's kinda cool.
ok, that is a much better trailer than the first one.
It looks to be too hipsterish, for my taste.
Not ruling out that this could be a mess.
People keep complaining that 'a set visit means a 10/10 review', but wow, that trailer alone is better then most movies I've seen at the cinema lately- if it doesn't get a perfect ten then I'll be shocked. Can't wait for this one =D
That just made my day!!! Its so f**kin awesome!!
Did they really do it? have they really gotten the books right? I mean, it looks that way, but I'm afraid to believe
When is the movie being released again?
Looking forward to it.
I have read the books, and I had no concerns, mostly because I don't worry about such things. Also, that was a fucking awesome trailer.
Never read the books and the first trailer left me thinking "The Spirit," but this one has captured my enthusiasm in a way I didn't think possible. Well done.
SWEET!
Saw this at a test screening and it's pure, unbridled fun. The complaints that it looks "too hipster" baffle me. Hipsters are too busy being ironic to have fun.
Some of you fuckers think 'hipster' means "cooler than me". There's nothing hipster about this. If you enjoy video games, movies, and humor- you will probably like this (and then lie about it on the internet).
You guys remember Speed Racer? Just sayin'.
Well, that was much better than the teaser.
Looks like it will be BIG IN JAPAN. By the way, just to join in the fun, there are many hipster elements in this film. However, they were hip several years ago. Now they are just uncool.
Sorry but it looks like shit. I know it won't be shit because Edgar Wright is awesome but be prepared for all the mainstream whining of how the poppy and one size fits all trailer didn't match the movie ala Kick Ass.
This looks like american version of Volcano High (sorta) and I am all over this!!!
I'm jaded as fuck anymore, but this trailer put a smile on my face. Can't wait to see this!!
Looks cool. And trust me, i know plenty of stupid ass hipsters and this has nothing to do with them. Just cause its stylized and has decent music doesnt mean its hipster. Just means your lame for assuming everthing is hipster.
Its not hipster, Scott is far too wide eyed and clueless. Anyway whats this hipsterphobia? Noones going to chase you down and force you to wear skinny jeans if you enjoy this you know? You are not going to arrive home and find your CD collection has been replaced by The Animal Collective's back catalogue. Get over it
Without a doubt, hipster douchebags will eat this shit up.
That was twice as stupid as the first trailer. I don't even know why I bothered.
lulz
You know who're really concerned about what aesthetic something has? Hipsters. Just sayin'
