Today is the first day of principal photography of Frank Darabont’s The Walking Dead! AMC knows how excited you are for it, and thus has released these behind-the-scenes photos. It seems almost like they wanted to tackle people’s concerns about how gory the tv show could get, because these are some nice, fresh zombies. 100% grade A!

If you live in Atlanta you might get the chance to play a zombie yourself- check here for all the details. Of course, you likely won’t look as cool as these zombies (these are the hero zombies after all) but when else would you get a chance to be directed by Darabont?

Sweet.
Although I think we are all pretty zombied out right now – the fact that Darabont's name is attached here makes it something to look out for. Although reteaming with Jim Carrey may not be the best move (3rd pic down) as The Majestic wasn't exactly his best work.

The zombie apocalypse is even more terrifying for orthodontists apparently, what with all the excessive under-bites.
Are the 2nd and 3rd ( and 5th) pics actually the same zombie in different stages of decomposition? If so, awesome!
These looks great, and its probably a little nit-picky but I wish they werent so angry and little more 'lifeless' and vacant?
I'm up to date on the comics, and yeah I know they're dead but *shrugs* I dunno.
Those are some wicked looking zombies. I was not much of a fan of the Walking Dead comic, but dammit if this doesn't look like a fun series. AMC greatly disappointed me with their ill-advised Prisoner remake, so I hope this fares better. Now I just hope that my satellite service gets AMC HD by the time this comes out, I'll be happy.
Awesome. I was hoping they would go this route instead of just painting everyone light green.
