Not bad, but I would still prefer the costume from The Ultimates. They came up with a pretty damned cool 'real world' looking Cap in both the modern times and WWII.

But this one is good, it doesn't look cheezy, which is always a possibility with comic to movie.

All this is is a rendering someone did based on the costume description that was released a week or so ago. This is not the actual design even though it looks pretty damn good.

It's okay. The big A on his forehead makes him look like a tool, though. "Ass Man."

I as well was hoping for something that looked a bit more WWII-y rather than the now-standard rubber body armor, but I can live with this look overall. I like how the red straps create the stripes on his lower torso. Do his ears protrude from that cowl? I always thought that was one of the more unique aspects of Cap's costume, but I understand that it might not work on film. Guess we'll see.

#6- While Cap's armor was actually scale mail as it was drawn, anytime someone made reference to the armor or described it in the comics, it was always chainmail.

so when bay got rid of the flat nose and added flames we flamed, when dude gets rid of wings and chain mail and red boots/gloves, and adds savy leather straps we're cool with it.

Looks too modern. Cap's WWII was always appealing because it looked period and nearly practical.

I think the reasoning behind ditching the wings is because they're on Thor's helmet too, and the filmmakers don't want to double up on motifs in the costume designs due to the likelihood of the two characters sharing screentime in Avengers.

The design is definitely missing something without them, though — that classic Cap "silhouette" isn't there. Other than that, it's more than acceptable and the helmet/mask combo is especially nice.

It's odd seeing Cap without the wings, but that's not a gripe, I'm with Slick on the doubling of motiffs argument. I'm kind of on the fence about the chain/scale mail, with it he looks more period specific, without he does look a bit more modern. But hey, all in all, it looks good to go. I wonder what Bucky's costume will look like.

I'll pass. Without the wings, it looks too much like Rob Liefeld's "Agent America".

I'm guessing Captain America's costume is designed to instill confusion in the enemy… while they're wracked with indecision whether to shoot at the target on his head or the target on his chest… BAM! They get a shield in the chops! On the upside, he's perfectly camouflaged for fighting in a battlefield draped with American flags.

Maybe it's because I never read comics (but I like comic book movies), but this outfit looks ridiculous. He's going to look like an idiot in live-action with that 'A' on his forehead. Same w/ the star on his chest. He looks like a 'fake' superhero like from Kick-A** or Mystery Men or whatever. That A should be big and bold on his chest, and that star should sit right on the crotch. That would be awesome. But seriously, it needs work. It won't translate as well on-screen…

Hate it. Hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it. And if this isn't some lame joke, then it better not be the WWII Cap costume. Does Lucious Fox work for SHIELD? Is Morgan Freeman going to be in this movie? because I see a Cap that wants to be the red, white and blue Batman. Bleck. Chain Mail looks way more awesome. Hell, look at the Dragon Skin body armor and tell me it doesn't look like something Cap would wear. Man, why do I think that the age of Marvel movies is about to hit the crapper.

I like it. The costume won't be getting people into the seats. What will do that (hopefully) will be a good story, decent acting, non-stop action and general WWII goodness. People need to take a chill pill and not stress out about the lack of fluttering wings on the side of his head. If that's what preventing you from enjoying adventures from the Cap, you really need to step away from the keyboard, go outside, get a life, girlfriend, etc etc. Personally, I'm looking forward to this movie, and I bet once we see production photos, all these trivial complaints about who's wearing what will likely just go away.

Looks good. Now it's a matter of how the concept is executed i.e., what materials they use for the costume and accessories, the texture, color hues, etc.

But I agree that this couldn't possibly be the WWII costume, unless the movie makers are just retarded. The Ultimates WWII outfit was too good to not translate to screen.

The cap' needs a tower shield. Something to protect from IEDs.

Nitpick: I think the ribbing on the pants and on the chestpiece are both pretty damn modern, but howard stark probably designed it and he's ahead of his time, so I'll let it slide.

A couple people were complaining that it looks rubber but I don't see it, except for the fact that the sole of his boot is melting into the ground. kinda hard to tell what kind of material their going for when it's just a drawing photoshopped over an actors face but I like the design.

It's too damn busy. Why does everything have to have texture and ribbing all over the place? Put these costumers on a leash!

This costume is fucking awesome… I just wish the actor who's donning it would have been a better actor who didn't already tank in a Marvel film.
