It’s like bad trailer day or something. First it was the terrible Gulliver’s
Travels trailer
and now there’s a rotten, lying trailer for The Expendables.
First
of all, this trailer is weird because it feels like a teaser – it has
no footage from the film. There was already a trailer with footage, so
where did it all go? Second, that whole crow and the skull motif make it
look like a very expensive ad for a SyFy Channel marathon of The Stand (there
was one this past weekend!).
But worst of all, it essentially
lies, pretending that Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger have roles
that are more than cameos. They’re billed second and third, which is crazy. Anyone watching this trailer
would be forgiven for thinking Bruce and Arnie team up with Sly Stallone
to shoot bad guys, and then would be really disappointed when it turns
out that Sly teams up with a bunch of direct to DVD types. And Jason
Statham.

That is low.
Yeah, this lame teaser sucks fat, diarrhetic ass. But the previous trailers look awesome and anyone with half a brain can tell what this movie is.
Shame on you, Dev! This is no way as bad as the Gulliver's Travels trailer. it's just an unnecessary teaser.
Maybe it's my mood after a month of BP not fixing their mess in the Gulf (and we realize they never really did have a plan in case of disaster). It's petty, yeah, and a film does not compare to an oil spill, but the dishonesty of this trailer makes me not even want to see the damn thing anymore.
LOL "Crews". BLOCK! BLOCK! BLOCK! BLOCK! BLOCK! PA-PA-PA-PA-PA-PA POWWERRR!!!
Anyone know what this cocksucker is gonna be rated?
true devin, arnold n willis got a couple bit parts in this flick, but its still going to be damn fun to watch. you know youre looking forward to it.
This movie is going to suck so hard. It doesn't even look cool on a guilty pleasure level, which is what it's aspiring to. Advice to filmmakers: don't aim to make a guilty pleasure or a cult film. It comes off as phony.
Still can't wait though. My hopes are high for lots of cheese with this one.
Does this movie have an official rating yet? Is it officially PG-13? Am I officially staying home that night?
This trailer was before Persia 3 weeks ago, in the UK.
I thought it was OLD. Def a bit of a con, but we need a sequel so they can get Kurt Russell in, anyways.
So….
No Van Damme? No Seagal? No interest.
Yeah, the trailer blows and is even a little weird, but The Expendables is going to be amazing.
Oh my GAWD. The movie people LIED to me! How ever will I get through my day?
Your taking issue with the marketing campaign for this?
Shit.
I normally take what you say with a grain of salt, but lumping Jet Li and Mickey Rourke in with the "direct to dvd-types" is unforgivable. You're better than that Devin.
The last trailer that I saw in theaters also played up the whole Willis/Schwarzenegger thing. They played what seemed like the entire scene they're involved in and then gave them top billing again
"a bunch of direct to DVD types". I hope Crews punches you for that line if you ever get to interview him. Devin gets insulted if someone points out that he's a "web only" movie critic, but he certainly never has a problem dishing it out against any other Hollywood based profession. I usually support Devin, but this is just lame.
Why wasn't Van Damme invited?
Phrases that need to be ruled illegal due to their massive overuse: "bait and switch" and "jumped the shark".
Looks like they gave some guy with Affter Effects a couple of head shots and he made a teaser in his basement. Still psyched to see this one though…
You forgot Jet Li, he is a movie star. This movie also has President Camacho, Ivan Vanko and Cordelia Chase. Add them to Stallone, Statham and that wrestler and you got a movie. Although Steve Austen isnt the guy from the Marine, he is that other wrestler that you heard of but dont know who they are.
When they blew the cameos in the first round of teasers, it killed any interest I had in the film.
This looks like the kind of airplane movie that manages to suck even if you didn't take the earphones and don't really watch it (ie Cutthroat Island).
Van Damme was invited, and he turned them down.
Cause the movie sucks…DUH
This TEASER would have been more appropriate if released oh, I don't know, maybe a year ago. Seriously, that "trailer" was fucking bullshit and I'm even pretty sure they billed Arnold and Bruce first and second, which is just straight up lying to people, especially when they're deliberately showing no footage from the movie. WTF!!! Lionsgate must be willing to do anything to make sure this thing makes money after Kick-Ass under-performed.
