I’ve been catching up on the films I missed at festivals – this past week I finally saw the astonishing Aussie crime drama Animal Kingdom and the thrilling Ozark noir Winter’s Bone – but Dogtooth, a Greek film, has yet eluded me. And the new trailer for the movie, which Kino is opening in New York City on June 25th, makes that so much more agonizing. This looks like a great film, and that’s before knowing it won Un Certain Regarde at Cannes last year. My good friend James Rocchi (who pointed me in the direction of this trailer on his Twitter feed) is gaga for the movie, and he’s a man of serious taste.
Here’s the latest trailer for the movie, which just has me jazzed. Hopefully it’s coming to LA soon.

Daaamn. Sign me up.
Jesus. looks like fucking something alright. wonderful trailer but the huge NO ONE UNDER 18 ADMITTED that followed what transpired may have been my favorite part.
You have no idea how great this is. Surreal, disturbing and absurdly hilarious. Do not miss this.
I saw this at SXSW. It was absolutely terrific. Highly recommended.
Although it came out in October 2009 here in Greece, they have re-released it in May. We have high hopes for this one, especialy for the Oscars 2011. Go see it, in my opinion its the best thing Greek cinema has made in the last decade or so… This and Strela….
