There are two movies that I’m hoping can save this dog of a summer. One is Inception, although I don’t know how much ‘fun’ that film will be. The other is Scott Pilgrim vs the World, and I think ‘fun’ could be the operative word here.
There’s a new international trailer for the movie, and I think the marketing for this film is finally zeroing in on how to sell this piece. I hope a trailer not unlike this action and comedy packed one hits US theaters soon.

Okay…I may have to actually catch this one now.
Devin, I'd like add a third movie to that list: TOY STORY 3. C'mon, if you still have even a little access to your inner child, you've got to admit it's great. And maybe even the capping entry in the best (or at least the most consistent) trilogy ever made. Also: SCOTT PILGRIM yeeeeaah!
Me – want – NOW! That was EPIC!
Incredible.
Yikes. If it weren't an Edgar Wright movie I would stay away like it was the plague.
take michael bay, pop culture, corny, vulgar, spit in the face of traditional camera methods and wrap it in emo culture and you have this.
hypocrites
Best trailer so far. This looks all kinds of fun. 3 for 3 for Wright, surely.
Looks awesome. I'm still not convinced Brandon Routhe can be anything but wooden, though.
OK. I love Edgar Wright's output thus far, but this just looks dreadful to me. What am I missing here?
If it wasn't an Edgar Wright movie, it wouldn't look like this, so what's your point?
Brandon Routh — funny. Edgar Wright — brilliant. George Michael vs Egg!

god DAMN it. Every single trailer for this movie has been NEAR perfect with the EXCEPTION of Cera. And seeing as he's playing the title character, that's sort of a big deal. And I am by no means a Michael Cera hater. I've been a fan of his ever since AD. But good lord does he come across as annoying in all of these trailers.
The only part of that trailer that stood out to me was the use of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
Why do I feel nothing for this movie? Theoretically it ticks all the right boxes but it just leaves me cold. Hopefully this will be like those partys you really don't want to go to but end up having an awesome time. I'm soooooo over really looking forward to a movie and it just being crap or 'meh' at beast. Would be nice to be the other way for a change.
kind of has a venture bros. vibe to it.
Very entertaining. But for the ultimate boob-punch surely Armour of God is the one to beat?
#15, the reason you feel nothing from the movie is because all the performances are DEAD. No one in the movie is acting. Well, if they are acting, they are all acting like too cool to care, soul dead hipsters. No one is going to like this movie except people who have read the comic and are reading the characterization provided by the comic into the film. Everyone else will be left cold, because the film isn't bringing out likeable performances. Without anyone to like, this will crash and burn with audiences … as it is doing already.
*sniff* *sniff* Smells like KICK-ASS.
You know what's wrong with that trailer? Everyone is acting like Mike and Pam do on later seasons of "The Office". World weary "aren't you stupid" non-reactions. The only people who have any life are the villains.
Hate to say it, but I agree with #15. I really want to love this, but I'm just not getting it at the moment. Maybe it's the fact that I never read the comic. Maybe it's the hype. Maybe it's the hipsterish vibe. I'll be seeing it because I trust Edgar Wright but right now it's feeling like Hot Topic:The Movie.
LOVE Spaced, LOVE Shaun of the Dead, LOVE Hot Fuzz, but I don't get this. I feel like maybe I need to be 16 years old to get it, or something. Can't figure out what's here for an old fart.
You're just not getting it? Seriously people, you guys are way too caught up in your own drama to notice how awesome this trailer is. If you think it's about hipsters, if you think it's about hot topic, then you are not exactly thinking right. Every book and this movie seems to be about one thing… Scott fighting for love. If that does not work for you then I have no idea what would. This trailer is tremendous.
Maybe it's because Mary Elizabeth Winstead just isn't that good looking, but I can't imagine anyone fighting over her, let alone watching Michael Cera non-acting and looking like a total douche trying to fight her… um… evil ex-boyfriends? It's not even her emo look, cause there are some seriously hot emo chicks, it's just her. Now Mercedes in Licesnse to Drive, that is a girl worth risking getting into some trouble over….
@ #18. Pretty much exactly what I'm getting. Seems like they're trying to stay faithful to the letter of the comic, but the characters in the comic have so much more life and personality. It is just a trailer though.
Also a bit concerned by that "What are you doing?" "Getting a life." bit, way to spell out the subtext like we're retarded.
Sorry #23, but your defensive argument is pretty shitty. If you’re a fan of the book, that’s fine. However, saying this movie is about a guy fighting for love and that should be enough for everyone is a pretty weak argument. A guy fighting for love is the plot of probably 50% of the films that are made every year. That basic plot point is definitely not enough for most people and if it’s enough for you, you must see a lot of movies with Kate Hudson in them. Overall, people have not posted douchey “This is teh suxor!” comments about the film. They’re posting valid concerns about the tone, the acting, the hipster vibe. Most people have been downright respectful about criticizing the trailers and say that they’ll give this a chance even though they’re turned off by the trailers. You might want to, instead, stop being caught up in your own drama. Everyone isn’t automatically going to love your favorite properties because you do.
I'm just plain too old, while I remember how great it was to be 23, I can no longer relate to it and I think that is the core proplem with both the book and the movie. All the characters come off as self-absorbed douches…because everyone is a self-important twat at that age. You're deciding who you are, learning to fall in love, choosing your music, your look and you have no time to give a rat's ass about anyone else…I know I didn't. Does this make it a good movie for a 40 year old whose main priority is his two kids, probably not…but for it's target audience, it looks great. I, however, will rent it…lol.
"…and the cleaning lady, she awaits my Blue Steel line delivery."
I love the books and want to love this film but the trailers are leaving me cold. I don't know what it is.
