Animation legend Don Hahn recently sat down with Empire Magazine and gave them a couple of scoops, including the fact that he’s going to soon begin overseeing a 3D conversion of The Lion King (a movie I have never seen all the way through in one sitting. Maybe this will be my chance). But what could be most interesting to older film fans is his cryptic hint about Roger Rabbit 2:
“I couldn’t possibly comment. I deny completely, but yeah… if you’re a fan, pretty soon you’re going to be very, very, very happy.”
Trying to parse that statement is tough. It seems like he’s saying Roger Rabbit 2 isn’t happening, but then he says fans will be extremely happy about an upcoming development. What could that be? A TV series? A new series of shorts? A Jessica Rabbit branded Fleshlight?
Hahn’s keeping quiet, but it seems like we should be hearing more soon. Speculate away in the comments.

"The Lion KIng" and "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" are both ridiculously overrated films.
The Lion King, yes…overrated. "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", not rated highly enough. The film was groundbreaking and phenomenal for its time (Tom, Jerry, and Gene Kelly notwithstanding). I doubt we will ever see all of those characters from so many different companies, in hand-drawn glory, in a noir-ish detective story ever again. The film is brilliant.
@ #13 — I couldn't agree more! The Lion King is just a shitty music video for a shitty '90's Elton John album. Roger Rabbit is just another effects driven Zemeckis movie with no heart and performances that feel carefully built around effects sequences. Everything Hoskins does in his role — not for lack of talent — feels stiff and technical. A man visibly hitting all of his marks, as opposed to inhabiting a role. When it comes to Zemeckis, for me there is only Death Becomes Her, and maybe the Back To The Future Trilogy, although I haven't seen that now for years. I suspect it wouldn't hold up too well either. And when I think about it, Death Becomes Her is really about Streep, Willis and Hawn. They could have done this live onstage with practical theatrical effects and still have slain the audience. At this point, I Wanna Hold Your Hand feels like it was made by some other director. Yes, I hate Robert Zemeckis. Hate him.
