Oh delightful list stories! These are the stories where a filmmaker has a wishlist of actors for a role, and everybody pretends like the actors on that wishlist are all actually competing for the part. Or have ever even been contacted.

Such is the case with Super Hero Hype’s story that Guy Ritchie wants Daniel Day Lewis to play Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2. And I want the Gulf oil spill cleaned up this afternoon. Doesn’t mean we get what we want! Of course Ritchie has a better chance of getting Lewis than I do of getting the environment fixed, but that still isn’t saying much. Lewis, one of the finest actors alive, is incredibly picky about his roles. Will there be much to tempt him in the script for the latest chapter in what is shaping up to be a very light, rock ’em sock ’em franchise?

Nobody knows, since Ritchie is still finishing the latest draft of the script. And Lewis isn’t the only name on the list (although he is, without a doubt, the best). For the other actors who are being bandied about (and who are probably more likely to end up in the role), head to Super Hero Hype. Hint: None of them are Brad Pitt.
