In a slightly less (okay, monumentally less) important bit of Hobbit news than this, Daniel Radcliffe has taken a preemptive strike against any speculation that he would appear in another franchise, particularly The Hobbit. “I don’t think I would be asked to play Bilbo,” Radcliffe said. “It’s a
ridiculous rivalry [Harry Potter vs. Lord of the Rings] completely
built up by the media, but I certainly would be wary of getting
involved in another magical fantasy franchise.”
This question came up during an MTV interview in regards to speculation that Potter director David Yates might be in the running to direct The Hobbit. Radcliffe has already signed onto All Quiet on the Western Front.
