They giveth with one hand – Marvel Studios has set up Marvel TV, a shingle to bring Mighty Marvel Superheroes to your home – and they taketh away with the other – Jeph Loeb has been set up as the head of the division.
Loeb, one of the worst comic writers imaginable, has already has his hands in small-screen superheroics – Heroes, the abysmal NBC series. Why that would be a positive mark on anyone’s resume is beyond me, but then I also don’t understand how Loeb keeps getting comic writing work when it seems that he has not the slightest affinity for it.
Loeb will be working with Marvel publisher Dan Bradley not just on live action TV shows but also animation and Direct to DVD projects. There’s no telling which characters will be getting the television treatment first, but I hope that Loeb is involved only in a soulless suit sort of way.

Let's hope he does something about Wolverine so people will finally realise how boring and uninteresting the character is.
Don't worry, whoever Loeb gets his hands on will be ruined forever. Even Wolverine.
Let's see, Loeb wrote Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Dark Victory, Batman: Hush and Superman: For All Seasons, each of which is one of the best stories ever to star its title character. On the other hand, he wrote the woeful Spider-Man: Blue and Daredevil: Yellow, neither of which was remotely worthy of the praise it received. Then again, Hulk: Gray was decent. Loeb definitely deserves praise for his excellent DC work, and is nowhere near "one of the comic writers" by any measure. On the other hand, his Marvel work is spotty at best and craptacular at worst.
Loeb is fucking awful.
People hate Jeph Loeb? Apparently I just don't pay enough attention to common comics opinion, but I love Long Halloween and Dark Victory, thought Hush was good, and even found Superman/Batman pretty enjoyable. I haven't read much of his Marvel stuff, and maybe it's all awful, but The Long Halloween buys you a lot of leeway as far as I'm concerned.
Of course, on the other hand, Heroes was an abysmal show, so there is that.
It's weird to think there was a time when i actually liked Loeb's writing. Hush helped me get into comics, Long Halloween was just beautiful (i'm thinking awesome artwork was the key factor in these decisions). But then his son died (no offense, very sad happening) and whatever talent he had evaporated. Now his comics read like a retarded five year old bashing his toys together with no rhyme or reason. Just look at what he did to the Ultimate universe and the Hulk line. Why anyone would put him in control of tv shows is a mystery.
another week, another "worst comic writer ever" from devin without any suggestions as to who we SHOULD be reading or any indication that he reads comics at all. we know he already has it in for kirkman, millar, and loeb (who`s been hit or miss with me), and surely the list will grow. please devin, let us know who or what we should be reading and why…without this turning into another scott pilgrim blowjob piece. it WOULD be interesting to know what you do recommend, instead of just getting the negative.

Although written some time ago, I feel his work on Batman was among the best ever for the character. Long Halloween and Dark Victory are great stories.
You guys, Long Halloween had beautiful Tim Sale artwork and nothing else. It's not a good story.
I forgot that Loeb had also written the "Fallen Son: Death of Captain America" mini series, which was a pretty good side story to what Brubaker was doing in the regular Cap title, as it dealt with the Marvel Universe's reaction to Cap's death. Using the 5 stages of grief as a running theme, with a different hero representing each stage, each issue was drawn by a different artist and was pretty well self-contained, despite being part of a larger arc.
