I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this trailer for Animal
Kingdom,
the blazing new Australian crime drama from newbie director David
Michod. I mean, I think it’s a pretty good trailer, but it feels just a
touch spoilery and I’m not sure it truly captures the feel of the film,
which simmers more than it explodes. I really loved Animal
Kingdom,
and I hope you do too. Let me know what you think of this trailer.
Animal
Kingdom comes
to the US in August.

Look at that stache on Pierce, fuck yea! That trailer was pretty good. The Aussies are kicking some cinematic ass lately. The Horseman punched me in the balls hard.
I've heard only good about this film, and haven't seen it yet, so I skipped watching the trailer as you said it was a bit spoilery. But as I love Pierce, and about half of the Australian cinema I've seen so far, I can't wait for this.
Spot on. It's a strong, effective trailer but is just scored wrong and steers audiences slightly astray. Don't understand why they showed everything they did with one scene in particular — the car park one — likely to lose much of it's weight and punch for those with a keen eye for trailers.
Don't like inclusion of the "take your meds" line either which, in reality, was very low key. Kinda cheapens Mendelsohn's amazing performance from the outset.
Sony Pictures should have just stuck with the Australian trailer. Loved that one.
Eh. Pretty rubbish trailer. The Australian trailer was far, far better.
