Are you one of those people who were experienced suicidal thoughts when Avatar ended its theatrical run and you believed you could never again re-enter Pandora on the big screen? James Cameron wants to save your life. He (along with Fox) is rereleasing Avatar on August 27th, with eight more minutes of 3D Pandora action.
The rerelease will be ONLY in 3D, so fuck your one-eyed mother. She’s staying home and weeping to the Blu-Ray version. I imagine that this rerelease could be become a regular thing, the way that movies like The Wizard of Oz or Gone With the Wind would return to theaters again and again in the days before home video. It will also help distract audiences from realizing that the movie, when removed from the immersive theatrical experience, is sort of a dud.

Two billion dollars and a handful of Oscars later and you're still on that horse, huh?
I was watching Dances With Wolves at home and turned the tint all the way up on my TV so everything was blue. Just saved myself $15.
I would rather watch 2 ninja play hind and seek
Let's talk about how awesome the picture is in this article, again. It's awesome in the truest sense of the word. I am in awe of it.
Sort of a dud? Completely uninteresting turd is more like it.
Ta,
I actually preferred it on Blu in my home cinema – loved every minute of it. Pretty much perfect. Why don't yu go watch a GI Joe and FF double bill Dev? What taste you have!
I love how hundreds of years in the future people are still yelling out, "You want a piece of me?"
Why does a lot of money and some oscars lend it more merit?
Devin calls it a dud because it is a fucking dud thats why, christ I can barely remember any of it. Saw Toy Story 3 with the kid the other day and the 3D in that shat all over Avatar as well. I am genuinely mystified as to why Avatar has the rabid fanatic following it does.
Look at that picture. Who the fuck takes a damn Pizza to eat in a cinema?
Oh wait, an American!
"It will also help distract audiences from realizing that the movie, when removed from the immersive theatrical experience, is sort of a dud." This same quote will also be used when the future box office bomb, Scott Pilgrim, is released.
Here's to hoping that this re-release makes more money in its new run than Scott Pilgrim makes just to see Devin get all hackled up and spew venom forth. Seriously Dev, your therapist called and she said your hate boner for Cameron and blue cat monkeys from space is a tad unhealthy.
Dud? Really? Histrionic much, people? It's far from perfect and has a pretty derivative script – but so does 95% of the shit most of you douchebags like. On the other hand, it's got a coherent narrative, is visually stunning, and Cameron directed the fuck out of it. I can understand why people didn't totally engage, or don't feel it warrants the hype – but to say it flat out sucks is patently wrong. The only people who say that shit are binary thinkers for whom there are only two modes of thought – suck and awesome. Separate yourself from the hype and acknowledge that it's (at the very least) a half-decent film, which transcended its narrative limitations to be a fucking awesome cinema experience.
Yeah, and if you were in Asia, you might end up to somebody with a durian or dried fish jerky. I'll sit next to fatty fat-fat with his sausage supreme, thanks.
"The only people who say that shit are binary thinkers for whom there are only two modes of thought – suck and awesome. (snip, blah blah blah)…acknowledge that it's (snip, blah blah blah)…fucking awesome cinema experience."
Hmmm, I guess you sure told all us haters…wait, what?
@#15: 1100010101000111001010011!
Avatar is a LOT of fun, I don't care what any schmuck says about the script. Better than GI Joe, that's for sure, which got a more positive review from Devin.
You would have to wedge a ticket into my cold dead hand.
You know I can't really hate on Fox and Cameron too much. Because as far as money grubbing goes, re-releasing a movie is no different then just slapping together some shitty post converted 3D movie, which for the foreseeable future are in abundance. So movie production companies think people are nothing more then sheep…when was this sale tactic any different in the history of cinema.
And there he is, the pizza guy again. Gotta love him.
I like how serious the front row looks on the pic…. The guy behind the "pizza guy" looks like he's asleep.
