ShockTillYouDrop has word that the upcoming Saw 7 has received a name change. Get a load of this: Saw 3D: The Traps Come Alive. OK, sure. Since Hoffman can’t hold my interest much, maybe the traps can just cut out the middle man and handle shit on their own. The synopsis (via Wikipedia): Survivors from Jigsaw’s (Tobin Bell) previous traps gather to seek support of “self-help guru” and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery), but when Dagen’s own dark secrets are revealed, a new wave of terror is unleashed. Meanwhile, Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) and Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell, woo hoo) battle over Jigsaw’s legacy
As you may have already heard, Cary Elwes is returning as Dr. Lawrence Gordon. Though whether or not he’ll be in the modern story or in flashbacks remains to be seen. His fate from the first film has never been revealed. Kevin Greutert, who directed VI, got the gig over David Hackl, who directed the worst film in the series (V). Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who have scripted the last three films returned as well. Word is, that due to the diminished grosses of VI, this is likely to be the last in the series until the inevitable reboot in about five months.

How does one determine the "worst" saw movie, exactly? Remember, this is the series that Nick exclaimed "inserted metal objects forcibly" into his rectum. It is like trying to smell the difference between human shit and dog shit?

It's been a decent ride with these SAW movies (4 and 5 were the low points) and people that get all sniffy about them seem to forget that these are quickie horror movies released at a rate of one-a-year. To berate the sequels would be like having a go at all the Halloween sequels or Friday the 13th – that;s not to say you wouldn't have a point mind you. SAW VI was definitely one of the better ones and I for one will look forward to one last trip to the cinema for one lasrt SAW film. Especiallly as this one features the return of Westley. But then that's it. They had better STOP. Any chance of that? Well, geez, there's Scream 4 over yonder getting made…

#4 – No, not necessarily a good thing – but given the speed that they are pumping these out I'm surprised that they are anywhere near as decent as they are. I told myself after SAW 2 that if they can keep delivering one every Halloween then I will show up – no matter what the quality. If they had missed a Halloween deadline even once I'd have been out. They kept up their end, I'm doing my bit. And I don't think in any given year I'd rank a SAW movie as the worst movie I'd seen that year.
Behind the all the gore and terrible acting, there's actually an interesting story. It's just sad that you have to sit through an hour and a half sections of said story.
#3 and #6: well said Jedi. I agree with you 100%. "I will show up – no matter what the quality." I respect that. Get that shit over and done with ASAP. For some reason I saved up Saws IV, V and VI and so had to watch them recently on DVD in a short space of time because it was playing on my mind that I hadn't seen them. Anyway, this new saw has apparently got in a superbad trap that wasn't allowed in any of the other ones because it was too fucked up. But that could be BS.
