Sam Worthington has heard your complaints about his screen persona… and he agrees.
The number one thing Worthington wants out of Clash of the Titans 2 is the opportunity to ‘play a lot more and have a lot more fucking fun than just being a stoic young man who has to stand there and look pretty. I’m sick of doing that.’
Worthington spoke to the press today at the offices of Radical Studios, where his production company, Full Clip, has set up a comic book imprint. The first title from Worthington’s Full Clip, Damaged, will launch in February, with a graphic novel called Patriots coming sometime after.
That’ll be just about the time when Worthington heads off to shoot Clash 2, and he’s going to be using his box office powers to help shape the movie into something he wants. ‘They came to me with the story the other day. I said, “I kinda dig where it’s going, but can we make the character more of this? Can we make the character more of that?” It’s kind of a case of, “How do we make Perseus a lot more fun?” So we’re sort of shaping it down that track. And Warner Bros. has been nice enough to allow us to have a bit of input.’
One of the other things Worthington is holding steady on is shooting the movie in 3D, not post-converting it. In fact, he asked us to mention that he wants it shot in 3D, ‘to make them fucking aware.’ Worthington said of the post-conversion of the first film: ‘In regards to the conversion, I’m a Jim Cameron
boy, so people know my opinions.’
But in the end there’s one thing that’s most important to Sam Worthington when it comes to Clash of the Titans 2:
‘I don’t want to stand there with a stick up my ass.’

Hmm. I'm beginning to reevaluate my opinion of Mr. Worthington.
Wow, Sam, I'm impressed with all those "fucks." You truly are the man. And before I saw this interview I was just wondering why the heck you were getting cast in all these big-budget movies when your acting was average at best. But FUCK that, man, you're the man!
Hard not to like the Sam.
He's quite the foul mouth. And I'd mention that you called his new comic book two different titles in each article about him, but then I realize I don't fucking care.
If Chuck Norris and Tom Atkins were to have had a son, then is just might have been Sam Worthington.
Being Australian, he probably actually said "a stick up my arse."
so, what.. are we to believe that he's holding back..? please
Did he say he'll try not to be so wooden in Avatar 2 as well? Of course, he'll just be a motion capture/CG character, so maybe the performance will be better?
He needs to grow some hair. They make think that stubble-headed thing makes a guy look serious and deadly, but it really just makes him look bland and impersonal. An actual hairstyle adds character, which is useful for a guy like Worthington who isn't famous enough, or distinctive looking enough to pull off the bullet head look.
George Clooney is nice and all, but I prefer a press conference with an Aussie. Russ, Sam, even Cate Blanchett can rip off of a fart and tell you to get her another fucking beer.
"How do we make Perseus more fun?" What the fuck are you talking about? I don't need a Christian Bale clone, but I sure don't need Perseus to be "fun." What the fuck is he going to do? Get drunk, fart and make dick jokes? Fuck you and fun.Just make an enjoyable action movie that isn't retarded, you flavor of the month half-wit.
Clash sucked big rancid monkey balls…but it wasn't Sam's fault.
Everything that Leterrier does equals lameness.
Not to mention the 3D (in this movie) was the goofiest thing ever.
Sam could dress up in over-sized flowery pants and sport a Groucho mask for the whole of the running time of Clash 2 – but I won't be seeing it. The first one was one of my more depressing trips tp the cinema (up there with Transformers and Charlie's Angels) and there's nothing they can do to entice me back….well, except maybe allowing Bubo to be a main character.
1. He can stand around looking pretty all day long as far as I care. Standing, sitting. Laying down. Yeah, laying down is good…
2. Stick up his ass is good, among other things stuck up there. Hmm, now WHAT could we stick up there to make things interesting? Say like when he's "looking pretty" from #1, above. HEY – maybe when he's laying down, looking pretty! WE'RE ON TO SOMETHING HERE!
