Tron definitely brings on the tears.

Of boredom.

I tried watching the original Tron recently for the first time. Made it through about thirty minutes before switching off.

Wowz. You guys hate a movie that barely has a cult following. You r soez kewl.

Tron isn't a great movie (I get the impression that the sequel will be significantly better, actually), but it's remarkable on the level of design and technical accomplishment. And by the later, I'm not just talking about CG. Most of the effects work is traditional stuff… matte paintings, etc. I think it's worth watching, and not boring at all, just for that. Also, I would watch Jeff Bridges clip his toenails and be enthralled.

I think M. Night had that same glow around him. He convinced us all that Unbreakable was a top 10 movie that year. If you never fall and stay creative. We'll see your $200 million dollar daydream on Friday. We treat movies like sports teams.

Tron hit me at the right time in life. Nerdy, early teen who had a penchant for arcade games. I have the Tron DVD now. I'll admit it did not age well but it was so computer effects heavy, it had no chance. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to Legacy.

Reshoots are pretty standard but having someone come on to write new pages, no matter how awesome, has to be at least considered as a sign of trouble. Remember when Jonah Nolan was brought on to rewrite Terminator Salvation? Ultimately the writer is extremely constricted by what can and can't be reshot, insane deadlines, and how much the studio is willing to spend. At the very least, this seems to contradict all the press on how amazing Kosinski's vision of Lisberger's vision is. Personally, I don't think LED lights on the costumes are anywhere near as cool or groundbreaking as the original rotomated look of Tron.

What-the-fuck-is-with-the-whiners? This is exactly what everyone who gets into talking about movies online always brings up. "If only they'd changed this little bit, or smoothed out that other part. Why didn't they give the script another pass/polish? This could have been great, but it's only good." Shut the fuck up. Disney, of all Studios, is paying attention to the smart stuff movie fans occasionally manage to say. So SHUT THE FUCK UP before you manage to make yourselves look stupider than usual.

Thank god Pixar is working on some more adultish movies. Hopefully this will make the uber creeps on the net who worship at the feet of pixar less creepy. Nah. Bottom line is they get super excited about kiddie movies and you cannot reduce that creep qoutient!

I can't believe there's no excitement here that Brad Bird is helping out. The man's a genius, and the fact that he's trying to make a good film great is a sign that this could be something special.

My first impressions are that this will be more of a character/story driven film, where the original was showcasing new tech. It was groundbreaking, but boring as hell. Sat thru it wil my 20 y.o. son for his first time (and mine in about 20 years,) and had to apologize to him, because it had a much larger place in my mind than what was actually on the screen.
My hopes are that this moves well beyond that storyline, and gives us an entertaining time back on the grid.

I just can't get by the silliness of the concept of Tron.

Yeah I also had a bigger place in my mind for Tron than what was really on screen. My roommate in college had never seen it and I was telling him how awesome it was. We finally got a copy and watched it and we turned it off after an hour I think. WTF, I thought the verification was supposed to be fixed.
