Not many plot details have been revealed for the M. Night Shyamalan-produced Devil, but this new poster and trailer should clear things up- it’s a film about a group of people trapped in an elevator.
An elevator that-
A) Has a really nice HD security camera.
B) Has a lot of cranky people on it.
C) May or may not contain the devil.
The trailer is available on Apple right now. Head on over to check it out, and try not to cringe too much at the whole “A New Nightmare From the Mind of M. Night Shyamalan” thing.
John Dowdle (Quarantine) is behind this, but they’re going to push Night’s rapidly dwindling name to the forefront to trick as many people as possible. The cast features Chris Messina, Geoffrey Arend, Logan Marshall-Green, Bojana Novakovic, Jenny O’Hara, Bokeem Woodbine and Jacob Vargas.
Devil hits theaters September 17th.

It should have been about people trapped in a cinema.
trapped in a cinema forced to watch 'The happening'
Odds that this is basically Sartre's No Exit in an elevator, but shitty?
They should have called this "Evilvator".
The snoozberrys taste like snoozberrys.
I was going to suggest "Hellevator," but a quick search shows that the title was already taken.
"they're going to push Night's rapidly dwindling name to the forefront to trick as many people as possible"
… to trick people into NOT watching it?
'Bad Things Happen For A Reason' Yeah? What was the reason for THE LAST AIRBENDER?
This plot could come from any Rod Serling hosted show. I really don't think Night's name holds weight either (the stink of Airbender is still in theaters). However, this might be Night's last chance to keep a job in Hollywood. If he cannot direct anymore, maybe another director can turn one of his screenplays into something not shit. Still, an elevator seems perfect for Night's long, static shots. Maybe he picked the wrong film to direct.
The worst part of the trailer is knowing that the ugly dude in the suit gets to bang Christina Hendricks.
#10. What are you talking about? That just fills me with hope.
the mummy's in your elevator and someone messed up his laundry
The twist is that all of the people are actually dolls like in that old Twilight Zone episode. And one of the dolls helps a howling man escape the elevator and he turns out to be the devil like in that other old Twilight Zone episode.
Since it's NOT directed by Shyamalan, I might actually go see it. It looks like it might be competent!
