Quickie news item about Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has Tweeted a picture of Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack threatening the ocean with his sword. Very nice, poignant imagery. You never know though. I’ll take Jerry at his word of course, but I’m just saying, that could actually just be the craft service guy who got hold of some props…. Anyway, the synopsis, from Disney:
Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love–or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

Looks more like he's facing us, rather than the ocean… so maybe he's just threatening us.

Mechanical Ghost is right. You can see his face and left hand. Photoshop would confirm but I'm lazy.
He is obviously facing the screen. Look at his left arm pointing TOWARD the camera. If his back were to us, that arm would be contorted way against the joint – plus you can see his face. Perhaps, TommyBahamy, YOU really, really don't get how anatomy "works."
I'm pretty sure Jack Sparrow was right-handed in those POTC movies… so that alone would indicate he's facing the camera. It's an important issue, to be sure.
