It seems that the new Disney management has the intelligence enough to know the best asset at the Mouse House is the Pixar Brain Trust. Principals involved in the new Muppets movie recently flew up to Pixar HQ for a table read and to pick the noggins of Brad Bird, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton,
Michael Arndt, Bob Peterson and president Ed Catmull among others. This is the second time in recent months that Disney has reached out to the animation superstars of the company to get help with a live action project (the first being Tron Legacy).
One might chalk it up to the heavy task the filmmakers have given themselves by naming their new film, The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made. If you’re laying it out there like that, you better make sure the movie is what it calls itself; and undoubtedly, Pixar can help them do that. The new Muppets movie is being directed by James Bobin and producers David Hoberman and
Todd Lieberman. Bobin’s background is as a writer and director for Da Ali G Show and Flight of the Conchords, while Hoberman’s producing credits include Monk, The Proposal and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Lieberman has produced Surrogates, Traitor and Wild Hogs among several other films.
Considering how recent Disney movies have done, and Pixar’s tremendous track record, I’m wondering how long it is before all this Pixar middle man crap is over and Lasseter, Bird and company simply pack up their shit and set up shop in Burbank in the Corporate Offices proper.

Please dont get them pixar nuts all overjoyed at the prospect of another kids movie! Those creepy bastards cream their shorts everytime they hear the name pixar. Most of us normals find pixar films tolerable to sit thru with our children (I slept thru toy story 3) but certainly would never dream of actually getting excited about a pixar release because we are fucking adults!

Pixar is way overrated. Basically the Twilight equivalent for children and man-children. Short Circuit… er Wall-E… was great for about a half hour and then it just descended into murk and repetition. If you cried during Up, and are over the age of 10, you are retarded.

Wow, if "normal" to you is finding Pixar films tolerable and un-exciting, I am very glad to not be normal. I am 38 years old and I love Pixar films, especially Toy Story 3. They tell great stories with the best animation ever. Don't be such a stuffy old bore chudfan aka douchebag.

This thread is a prime example of how to troll effectively. My thoughts? The Muppets and Pixar seem like a really good match; this can only result in a better movie, and lord knows the Muppets deserve a GREAT movie.

I have loved every Pixar film. For me, Toy Story 3 was spectacular and heartwarming.
I just thank heavens that someone in the US bought The Muppets and I think Disney no matter who they consult with, will do just fine. I think Jason Segal and Amy Adams are going to be great. Their acting sensabilities and timing are both great. To work with The Muppets you would have to have great timing, because their cuteness would trample any actor. I cannot wait to see the film. The Muppets are back, yippee.
