MTV recently spoke with author Max Brooks, whose book, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, has been in development for some time now. Brad Pitt’s Plan B shingle snapped it up, and after several delays, it looks to be finally moving forward. What’s more, according to Brooks, Pitt has officially signed on to star in it as well as produce. Additionally, Brooks stated that Paramount has also picked up the options on his The Zombie Survival Guide novel and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded
Attacks graphic novel. The Zombie Survival Guide offers instructions for surviving an attack
by the living dead, while Recorded Attacks chronicles some of the
major battles that occurred in the war against zombies.
Brooks, whose dad happens to be Mel, said the following about the project: “I can’t believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been…. I’m glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie
movie they can. I’m so glad they stayed with the project
and so glad they found the right team..
Marc Forster is still attached to direct and Paramount is currently targeting Summer 2012 release for World War Z.

I wonder if they'll write the rules from the Zombie Survival Guide across the screen in animated graphics…. and if Jesse Eisenberg will star
World War Z was a terrible book. The only story worth a damn was the submarine one. All the characters were the EXACT same and you want me to believe that the greatest weapon against the zombies is a fucking shovel? Fuck this book.
Read the book, and liked it well enough. But seriously Hollywood enough with the zombies.

Pitt starring is cool, has there been a real A-list star powered zombie movie before?
It's not exactly a book that lends itself to a single-serve narrative. It should have been a mini-series. It's not a "terrible" book, just a bit disjointed. As soon as a story started to take hold we jumped to a whole new story-line never to return. That said, there were stunning moments scattered throughout the book.
I never got the big deal about "World War Z." I guess because most zombie/horror lit these days is terrible, it got accolades for being okay. But okay is still just okay. For me, it was an easy book to put down.
"World War Z" made "The Davinci Code" look like "A Tale of Two Cities". Terrible, terrible book. Anyone who says otherwise is probably considers slashfic a legitimate artform.
