Danny Boyle has no problem taking on challenging projects, and making an “action movie where the hero can’t move” and will make you “want him to cut his arm off by the end” certainly ranks among them. The first images from 127 Hours (which apparently has minimal dialogue), have arrived online from Entertainment Weekly and show star James Franco as rock climber and self-amputating Aron Ralston, who made headlines when he escaped from being trapped under a boulder by fucking off his right arm with a Swiss Army knife.
The film will likely debut at Toronto, but we’ll keep you up to date on it’s wider distribution plans.

UPDATED: Bloody Disgusting spoke to writer Patrick Melton who stated that the ideas that Betsy mentioned were already rolled into Saw 3D, which will be it for the series. So for the moment, consider the franchise kaput.

…good news! There could be an eighth Saw film!
What’s funny is that I had no idea there was a chance of there not being a Saw VIII –I pretty much assumed they were greenlit through Saw X— but it seems Saw 3D was produced and shot as if it was the last of the franchise (until the reboot of course). Pop Wrap (a New York Post outfit) spoke with Betsy Russell (Jigsaw’s wife!? I checked out after II) who feels another film could still be in the cards if the audience is there. Despite the eventual intentions of finality, the writers apparently have more-
“Before we thought it was ending [at VII], the writers came up with an unbelievable idea… It’s an amazing story that I would love to see.”
So the franchise is over, unless the returns are good enough. Considering the majority of the previous Saw films were put into motion before their immediate predecessor was even released, this is definitely a new approach for Jigsaw’s saga.
On that note, I leave you with Ms. Russell’s other quote, which speaks for itself.
“We want to end near the top, with our integrity in tact and not letting the characters die a slow death, so to speak. But I believe in my heart that someday, somehow, [Saw VIII] will happen.”

I don't care for torture porn, but I enjoy the Saw franchise. Not for the kills, but because it is a slave to its continuity. It would be easy to just have some new killer set traps for new victims year after year. At least they are a little bit ambitious.
How is it possible that these still get made and even worse, that we walk amongst people who are fans of this crap, enough to sustain 8 of these crap-fests?
Do they not realize they already drained everything from these dumb movies. The first two were genius, but after that the story was non existent and just became how can we kill people in a cool way. Saw is the new Wal-mart for white trash, its like a fucking magnet
I am sure I am not the only person who has asked this:
Why is this series still being made?
That one sheet actually made me snort coke out of my nose when I saw it.
Why the hate for Saw? Friday the 13th, Halloween etc had loads of sequels that were the same. Atleast Saw tries to do something different story wise.
Why do they keep making Bond films? No one complains about "Not another Bond film". They are all the same reusing the same cliches.
I'm pretty sure if we had the interwebs in 1987, you'd have heard all the same complaints about Friday the 13th. Let the kids have their own crappy franchise.

#4 – Very simple, math. They are very cheap to make, and even the lowest grossing entry has turned a sizable profit.
As an Admiral Ackbar fan from way back, I think that poster is hilarious…
