“If
this does perform, I think it will open a little more liquidity in
funding the sequel… I have an idea ready to go. People think doing a
sequel is easy, but it’s not because you need the element of surprise.
I’m going to try to do something that’s quite radical.”
That’s Stallone speaking with the LA Times about The Expendables
upcoming release, and if he’d pull the trigger on a follow up if it
performs. Of course he would. He doesn’t get any more specific about
what kind of story or location would drive an Expendables
sequel, but there’s still plenty of B-action stars left to bring into
the fold, so Stallone would have no shortage of new old blood.
The action film, which Nick and I reviewed
(from fairly different perspectives), opens this weekend and is set to
kick a decent amount of monetary ass. Once the dust and the blood
settle, maybe we’ll get a better idea where Sly wants to take the
team…

Christopher Lambert for the sequel!
The Expendables go to wipe out some drug lord on an island off the coast of South America. They run into El Mariachi and the Battle Royal kids (Spic edition) and they are all about to get it on when BOOM! Predators. Just posted up like a stamp ready to go to war. Theeeeeeen, I don't know Jack Burton shows up or something but the point is: They all have to fight mother fucking Predators…this thing writes itself.
P.S.- The Twist? The Drug lord turns out to be Tony Montana in the final act.
Don't forget JCVD, Segal, Mel Gibson?, Hauer, C.Weathers. Maybe even bring in The Rock.
This franchise needs some Kurt Russell.
I second brundlefly.
He's going to recycle the Rambo 5 storyline involving the genetic mutation super soldier.
Think there could be some females in the second? Hell, what females would be cast? Linda Hamilton? Grace Jones? Jenette Goldstein?
I think he might do something crazy like kill off his own character in the beginning. Or have the remaining Expendables (haven't seen it yet) open a daycare.
