Michael Vartan is coming on board Colombiana, says THR.com. The Luc Besson-produced actioner stars Zoe Saldana who, as a child, witnessed her parents’ murder
in Bogota. She grows up to become a hitwoman by day but in her personal
time engages in vigilante murders to lead her to her ultimate target:
the mobster responsible for her parents’ deaths. Vartan will play Saldana’s boyfriend, an artist with no idea what she does for a living who is her only link to normalcy. Besson wrote the script with his frequent collaborator, Robert Mark Kamen (The Transporter, Taken); and Olivier Megaton (Transporter 3) is directing.
I’m not that surprised to see Vartan get the nod in this. For although he’s currently co-starring in HawthoRNe, and was one of the four main actors in the short-lived Big Shots, he’s been known to take the love interest (i.e. the male “chick”) role a time or two. Even though I liked his work as Vaughn in Alias, he was undeniably the chick in that show, as he was in another of his bigger roles, playing J.Lo’s fiance in Monster-In-Law.
Production on Colombiana begins in the fall for a Sept. 2, 2011 release.

I don't understand how Saldana keeps getting action roles when she looks like she'd have a hard time lifting her purse, let alone brandishing a large firearm. Hell, why not make her the next WW too.? Ugh.
Didn't she just play this EXACT same character in "The Losers"? Does she play Bitchy Hunter Smurf if the Smurfs flick too?
She's trying to carve a career as the next Angelina Jolie. Nothing wrong with that.
