One of the most quotable films of last year, Black Dynamite, is finally seeing release in the UK and with it, murmurings of a possible sequel.
It would seem to me that The Mirror and the other sites repeating the report are taking the quotes for a granted a little, but whether there is actual movement/development or not, Jai White’s intentions are clear.
“Oh, absolutely, I’ve had the idea for Black Dynamite 2 for quite a while now, and it’s gonna start where Black Dynamite left off – there’s lots of things we didn’t get a chance to do in the first one… You know how Black Dynamite just grows in ridiculousness? Well, this will be a fitting sequel.”
It’s that growing ridiculousness in the first film that makes me question the necessity of a sequel. It already felt like every idea, no matter how crazy, was crammed into Black Dynamite (to its slight detriment I believe), and I kind of wonder if much more escalation would even be sustainable without it becoming a Michael Jai White Brodyquest. That said, if I can get even one more line as good as “Ha! I threw that shit before I came in the room!” then it will be worth it. Absolutely worth it.
The cult of the first film continues to grow, so with a successful UK release then White may very well be able to get a sequel off the ground, so keep your fingers crossed if you dig authentically reproduced blaxploitation.

Sequel? "it's gonna start where Black Dynamite left off"—I don't know, man. I like it and all but that movie started running out of gas before the final reel.
Sequel? Look here momma I can dig it.
I've heard that the sequel will be along the lines of "Black Dynamite Goes To Africa" or some sort of similarly ridiculous shit.
But the final reel was incredible, so just disregard stupid responses like #1 and make the sequel.
british newspaper? Pass.
"I am smiling".
