With all that is wrong with this world, it's amazing that we live in a world where the Coen Bros. are allowed to do anything they want. Sometimes things are good.

I know it's annoying to point out, but this picture has been on the interwebs for like weeks. However, I have a question for those who have read the book and seen the movie: should I do one or both of those things first or wait for the Coen version? Any advice? (By the way, if you answer my question without having done both of those things, you're a douche.)

Wayne made a few movies with Kim Darby. I hadn't heard that they hadn't got along on set.

@4: See the Coen flick first. Then read the book. Then watch the Wayne version. That's how I'd approach it.

@3: I'm going to have to go ahead and agree with you there. The Coens walk between the raindrops and the world is a better place for having them in it.
@4: I saw the first movie and read the book after, and will see the Coen version when it's released. But you're in a position of advantage. For cases like yours, the only properly academic thing to do is to go chronologically. Read the book, then see the Wayne, then see the Coen. Or do it in reverse: start with the Coen and work backward to the novel. Observe how the plot, style and theme remain both the same and different over the intervening fifty years. Then go write your dissertation.
