It's not a mosque; it's an Islamic cultural center, and it's two and a half blocks away from Ground Zero. People act like it's being established as some sort of victory monument on the ashes of the World Trade Center. It's nothing of the sort. America was attacked by Muslim extremists, not Islam as a whole, and the people establishing this cultural center are not extremists. Aside from that, I believe the First Amendment protects people's right to worship and therefore the government can't deny them the ability to construct this center on any religious grounds. This has nothing to do with sensitivity towards the families of 9/11 victims and everything to do with Americans' xenophobia.
