I was late to The Office party.
It was a combination of things really. I was traveling for a good portion of all the at-that-time released seasons. And then once I was back home and realized that this was one of those shows that was totally up my alley, I kept putting off the time-consuming endeavor of watching all five seasons in a row.
Then, Netflix came to the rescue by offering the first five seasons to watch instantly. I was out of excuses, so I caught up on the whole series in less than a weekend.
So, why regale you with that stimulating story of my discovering The Office? Good question. It speaks to the shift in the movie/TV-watching technology and how the industry is coming around to embracing these changes. Universal Studios Home Entertainment is releasing The Office: Season 6 on Blu-ray on September 7th, just in time to catch up before the Season 7 premiere on September 23rd. And the industry-first added bonus on this disc is the BD-Live feature that lets you stream — in HD — the first five episodes of the new season the day after they air on regular TV.
It’s not quite immediately available streaming, but it’s a step in the right direction. And at some point the Blu-ray disc themselves will become pointless to produce — but, if the current, jittery HD-quality that Netflix Streaming provides is any indication, that’s still a ways off.
The Office: Season 6 Blu-ray also has hours of other bonus footage, including the digital short “The Podcast,” episode commentary, deleted scenes, blooper reel, and more.

you may need to check your internet speed; I get Netflix HD streaming smoothly and quickly through my Xbox using 16mbps.
Don't feel bad; I, too, was late to the Office party. I watched the original BBC version with my parents, then downloaded the first few episodes of the first season, then finally went out and bought the first few seasons
Yeah, I also usually get a pretty constant HD stream with my Roku box. The quality may not always look entirely HD, but the connection is always pretty solid.
Netflix HD streaming quality looks OK at best through my PS3 and I'm getting on average 18mbps. I watched "Bronson" (great movie BTW) the other night and it was certainly watchable but I kept feeling as though I probably should just gone and rented the Blu-ray. Not to mention the fact that there's no 5.1 sound. Sorry, I'll still take my Blu-rays or even DVDs over the streaming options available at mass.
Meh, this show peaked at Season 4. It was all downhill after that.
