INTO THE AUDIENCE’S FACE!” gimmick for 3D movies? Think again!

just sent over word that the first official trailer for Saw 3D has
premiered on Yahoo! Movies. The film really
wants you to know that
it’s available in three dimensions, as you’ll
soon see.
I’d
just like to take this moment to point out that I haven’t seen one trap
that seemed self-aware. Are they lying to us with that goofy-ass
tagline?

This trailer last night at a screening of Piranha 3D. When even the audience for that film is groaning, you know you've lost it.

If the film is anywhere near as ridiculous as that trailer, it's gotta be one of the best in the franchise. Hell, even the stuff that appears to come straight from the movie is utterly insane – like that scene with the two guys getting tortured in public square with dozens of onlookers! Is that remotely plausible, even in THIS universe? Gotta admire that kind of brazen stupidity. Give me more of that inane shit and I'd be pleased to see them embrace their own level of suck.
And so my dalliance with the SAW films will come to an end (unless of course this one does especially well at the box office) and I for one have at least if not always enjoyed the ride, appreciated it. Appreciated them getting one film out per year. Saw 6 was an improvement on the numbers 4 and 5 and so I'd like to thoroughly enjoy this last 3D effort. Hopefully chock full of ridiculous 3D moments and plenty of gore. Piranha 3D is the one to beat this year. PLUS the return of Cary Elwes! Huzzah.
