Chris says they’re Noth going to make any more Sex and the City movies. Darn.
Mr. Big himself told New York Magazine during the press for Jack Goes Boating that the press killed the Candace Bushnell series about women who squeal when they see each other in public. Not the fact that the original spin-off film was a bloated [albeit successful] nightmare and that the ill-advised second film was a bathtub full of shit. Not that they spent more to make less the second time around. Not that the franchise already has strained the loyalty of its martini sipping Red Hat Society: The Next Generation crowd. Not because the material about these four rapidly aging ladies has a shelf life that has reached putrescence time.
Because “The press killed it. Your magazine fucking killed it. New York Magazine. It’s like all the critics got together and said, ‘This franchise must die.“.
Well if it is true that the franchise is officially dead I would like to officially raise a glass and propose a toast because fuck that franchise.

What the fuck are you talking about Nick? The snippet is an incoherent mess and not funny in the least. Lets get our heads out of our collective asses and be somebody.
Good riddance. The only thing this "franchise" ever did was teach young women that promiscuity and materialism were the two most important things in life. A fuck Chris Noth for being angry about this. I guess someone shouldn't have tried to high ball his law & order contract…
As a fan of the show, I have to say I hate the hell out of the movies. Every major character arc from the show was completely thrown out the window. Samantha for example. She's the ultimate bachelorette. Then she finds a guy she falls for. Watching her evolve into someone who could have a true emotional relationship was great stuff. Then they get to the movie and can't figure out what to do with her if she's not promiscuous so they just have her dump her boyfriend and revert back to the old Samantha. It's completely lazy writing. The same goes for everyone else. Carrie had finally worked out her relationship with Big. Oh wait! Now he's going to walk away from the altar! Charlotte can't have kids. Oh wait! She got pregnant! I just felt completely insulted by the films.
I don't quite yet believe that the spectre of a third film has totally dissipated yet. If we can get a new Rocky, a new Tron and a new Wall Street, we can get a third Sex and the City film.
Be very afraid.
Chris has a much better gig on THE GOOD WIFE anyway. He should be *thanking* New York Magazine.
Teardrops in my Cosmo.
#3 You are 100% right. The show was a lot of fun but the first movie was not only lazy, but melodramatic and humorless.
The show wasn't bad, but as a girl, I think I was one of the few who wasn't "in love" with the show; that isn't to say that I haven't enjoyed it from time to time, but it's something that I can only stand to partake in from time to time. The movies were pretty bad and didn't seem to have the same spirit as the actual show.
Sorry it turned out so ugly with Devin, but at least now you probably realize what a toxic shithead he is. Which is something folks tried to tell you for years, but you ignored.
