Magnet Releasing has just announced that it’s acquired world rights (well, the world excluding Europe) for writer/director André Ovredal’s The Troll Hunter.

Shot in a vérité style, THE TROLL HUNTER is the story of a group of Norwegian film students that set out to capture real-life trolls on camera after learning their existence has been covered up for years by a government conspiracy. A thrilling and wildly entertaining film, THE TROLL HUNTER delivers truly fantastic images of giant trolls wreaking havoc on the countryside, with darkly funny adherence to the original Norwegian folklore.
“The Troll Hunter is one hell of a ride, with trolls the size of King Kong,” said Magnet SVP Tom Quinn in a press release. “André Ovredal has created a one-of-a-kind creature feature that’s sure to entertain and wow audiences all over the world. We’re extremely proud to add it to the Magnet slate.”

So I guess, since Magnet is releasing the film that it won't get a theatrical run (like Centurion) and be dumped On-Demand. That's great, just like IFC films, Magnet is a where good theatrical films go to die. Sigh…..
I agree with Jeff there. As glad as I am that Magnet is the force that gets these films seen in the states, I wish they were able to throw more money into their theatrical runs of things. I would've loved to have seen Centurion or Monsters in a theater, but alas, I had to watch them on my crappy TV.
I'm still interested in seeing this, but if the trolls get THAT FRIGGIN LARGE don't you think everyone would know about them?
Well, im Norwegian and have indeed watched it, you'll know why noone has seen them yet if you watch the movie ^^.
because mountain trolls mostly lives inside the mountains.
