insanely awkward collection of photos, but the creepiest thing about
it isn’t the hunched, wall-eyed males in Steve Jackson Games
t-shirts*, or that the females posing with Glau look like
they just got back from a GLADD-sponsored Serenity LARPing panel: it’s that
Glau’s plasticky, perfect smile is exactly the same in every photo,
no matter how close that jerk-off hand is to copping a feel on some
sideboob.
I mentioned this to a friend over chat,

Welcome to the internet indeed. This set was discussed in depth on 4chan/tv/ over a month ago for several days. The creator of the .gif is a /tv/ regular.
We have had threads about fan photos for at least 3 years now on /tv/. Mostly involving Summer Glau because she is Queen(or god-Empress of /tv/) depending on who you ask.

David, did you noticed the Hover Hand thread yesterday? A stack of images of fanboys at conventions with their arms around, but not touching, Glau etc?

No, I was busy moving most of the day yesterday and was AFK. But the hoverhand threads are always a crackup. I just find it amusing that a month or so later suddenly this goes viral. I searched Glau on Twitter for new pics of mai waifu as usual and the feed was blown up with this.
Smiling in photos almost always makes people look retarded. Note that the Combo Breaker guy looks less retarded than the others because he's not smiling. I avoid smiling in photos whenever possible and I HATE photographers that tell you to smile.
