Coming Soon have gotten their hands on 2 pieces of concept art for the 2011 Ryan Reynold’s comic book epic, Green Lantern. The pictures are of Oa, home to the Green Lantern Corps, a “brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order”.
The first official trailer for this 3D romp will be in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 on November 19th, so in the meantime this is what you get.

So… the Corps originate from Mordor then? I guess that's why the rings are so important.
I totally get the concept behind their design schemes for this movie: "It's alien, so let's make it look alien." Conceptually, I agree with it, though I'm no more than an in-passing fan of GL (and more so of the Kyle Rayner GL than Hal Jordan), so "comic accurate" isn't a big deal for me in the film.
I just haven't been very impressed so far with the "alien" design schemes…but maybe the finished film will look better.
This is hilarious. The magic ring movie will undoubtedly shit the bed.
I'd like to be won over, but hazy purple cities and green musclesuits? This movie looks kinda…stupid.
Very pretty, but weird. Which is kinda how most of the stuff for this movie looks. I'm excited to see the film, even as a casual GL fan. I think they have a nice aesthetic, and I trust Martin Campbell. But it's also a damn weird aesthetic.
It's a sci-fi superhero film. It's supposed to be "weird." God forbid we even slightly stray away from the already tired superhero movie conventions!
"New Concept for Green Lantern". Shouldn't the word "art" be in that headline somewhere? I started reaing the article half expecting them to reveal that the film was now about a hero wearing an orange necklace.
Outside of the occasional Batman story and Jack Kirby's "Fourth World" books, I've never understood the steadfast hokum that DC perpetuates. This guy's weakness is the color yellow, for crying out loud. "Superman Returns" sucked a monkey's anus because no one knows what to do, film-wise, to make the perfect asshole compelling. Making him a deadbeat dad just makes it silly. "The Dark Knight" was compelling but not because of Batman. Batman played as a cypher for all of the other elements but his character was written so flat as to be nearly unnoticeable. I like Reynolds in a lot of films but I'll be avoiding this like the plague. The Green Lantern is dead on the vine because DC doesn't know how to make their properties truly contemporaneous to the now. The tropes they bring are from the Golden and Silver Age still. Guh.
