The Haunting in Connecticut was a great big pile crap. Plain and simple. The “scares” were dreadfully obvious, poorly staged, and the whole story was dumber than a sack of hammers to begin with.
Of course it made a bunch of money, and now those bastards at Gold Circle Films want to bring us another one: The Haunting in Georgia.
It’s the same story of a family who move into a house that’s haunted by piss-poor ghosts, only to discover there’s a “secret” attached to the place. Hollywood Reporter claims Chad Michael Murray, Abigail Spencer, Katee Sackhoff and Emily Alyn Lind have all signed on to be the family tormented by the spirits, and if that cast doesn’t get you excited I don’t know what will.
The synopsis from Gold Circle:
“Shortly after moving into their ideal new home, a couple grows concerned when their young daughter begins encountering mysterious strangers that no one else can see. The couple’s greatest fear is realized when they themselves begin to witness terrifying phenomena in and around the house, providing clues that could unlock a chilling mystery that has remained a closely guarded secret for generations.“
Filming begins later this month with director Tom Elkins in Baton Rouge, which is definitely not in Georgia. Plus, a third entry is already in the works (The Haunting in New York)…

Man, I remember when TLC was airing the "documentary" versions of these stories. Creepy as all get-out; namely because it was so low-key. No douchy ghost-hunters, no bombastic jump-scares or special effects. Just a kid and her dead friend, Mr. Jordy. . .

Man, I couldn't sleep for a week after that scene where it was quiet, and then there was a sudden loud noise! And those eleven or twelve black & white POV shots? Brrrr! Goosebumps!
The TLC doc was waaaay creepier and scary than a movie could ever be.

At least they don't discriminate. Every state should get a haunting movie….unless failed box office success rules that out.

Kyle Gallner (VM represent!) was wonderful in this movie. In addition, you have a MILFY Virginia Madsen as well. It may not have been a good film, but it had some reasons to sit through it. I also want to agree with those who've seen the TLC series version of this story; that shit was creepy.
The Haunting in Connecticut ruined my credibility for a long time…I saw that tv documentary and knew it was "based on" that same story, so I told everybody to see this movie, it was gonna be great. Then it was that shit. I had to tell them "no, that story was f*cking dumb, the "real" story is way better and more creepy! You gotta check it out I'm telling you." but no one would hear it. *sigh*
