In my all-too-short youth I bought a few Green Lantern comics. And I hated them!
A dude whose jewelry helped him kick ass? I liked that character better when he was called Flavor Flav. Over the years, the comic has always remained in DC’s upper echelon and as technology got better we were always threatened with a Green Lantern movie. Then they got the right guy to play him and a director who is good at not getting in the way of his action. And they cast the delicious (I’m assuming) Blake Lively. I saw some stuff at Comic Con and was more impressed with Ryan Reynolds as a dude than the stuff they showed.
But the trailer has arrived and it ain’t bad! Reminds me a little of Iron Man, which doesn’t hurt. Plus it has mutating Sarsgaards, which I am totally a sucker for, Take a peek!

Mutating Sarsgaard is one of things I don't like about the trailer. The cosmic perils weren't enough?

Damn, looks good to me. All the people complaining about the CGI really need to chill the fuck out. This looks to be on the epic scale that Superman Returns should have been. This movie will be huge. Man, it's about time Warner and DC started getting their shit together. If they keep this up, Marvel is actually going to have to spend some money on their movies to keep up with the quality.

Sorry Cobb, but just because the movie looks huge in scale doesn't make the CGI any less shitty. It just means there's going to be a lot of it. That said, the scale of the film does look impressive, as does the list of recognizable characters. Glad they didn't give GL a black leather biker suit, but the obviously CG second skin suit is pretty goofy.
This feels right. Very right. Scenes of cosmic grandeur ( The Oa scenes look stunning), a great choice for the lead… most of all, it looks fun. They nailed the tone perfectly. As for Super-Deformed Sarsgaard, it's appropriate: he's playing GL villain Hector Hammond, and that's pretty much what he looks like – DC's version of The Leader. All doubts removed – I'm onboard now.
And thank you, #3, for anonymously posting such an insightful Tourette's-fueled analysis. At least Mutating Sarsgaard had a legit complaint.

This looks like an update of Roger Corman's Fantastic Four.
an episodce of Big Bang Theory has better drama & action…give us a courtesy flush on this one before it starts to stink…
I wouldn't criticize the CG till it's in theaters. They'll be working on it till the last minute, as always.
Blake Lively has managed to come across way more stiff and cardboard than Scarlett Johansson. Awesome.
The suit is horrible. Looks like he has green paint over his entire body. Still can't get over the casting of Hal. Can't wait for the reboot in 5 years with a stronger leading man.
First that 20 second clip leaked and people weren't allowed to criticize the cg for some reason, not there's a trailer and we still can't criticize the cg. How much better is it realistically going to get once it hits theaters? Then whats the excuse going to be, "the theater screen is misaligned."
Remember when origins leak to the web and we weren't supposed to worry because it wasn't finalized….lol remember how that turned out?
So, wait… am I mistaken that Green Lantern's foe in the first film is bulimia?
I don't want Ryan Reynolds to play Deadpool anymore. That's how much I dislike this trailer.
How come nobody's mentioned the biggest issue…what's up with Ryan Reynold's/Hal's hair? It's like some sort of "jew-fro" ala Ben Stiller or Frankie Carbone from GOODFELLAS.
Un-mutated Sarsgaard is motherfucking hilarious looking. Ridiculously villainous male-pattern baldness and 'stache. I love it.
No thank you very much. I've never read any Green Lantern comics, and have never really intended to. This makes me want to avoid them even more – after watching Iron Man and the new Batman films they made me want to revisit the old comics even more. Oh, god this looks terrible.
What do you expect from a character whose villains are based on colors of the rainbow? Looks cheesy. Reynolds is just a terrible one-note actor. And he's cross-eyed which is even accentuated by the lame mask. Should have tried for a practical costume with some CG enhancements. And a different lead actor. And different lead actress. And different main character. Oh…never mind.

Wasn't particularly excited for this movie before. Still not exactly excited, but at least willing to give it a shot. The trailer was a lot better than the "preview of the preview" that ET dropped. Really does look like they're trying to riff off of Iron Man, though.
Oh, I get it now, it's a superhero movie for kids. Good idea. From that perspective it looks cool.
I honestly can find not a single praiseworthy thing in that trailer. Blake Lively is as wooden and forced as ever, but even Reynolds seems to be coming across as awkward in the emotional scenes. God, the CGI, ugh. So we get THIS instead of a Deadpool movie? Really?
I'm still looking forward to this a lot more than the Thor movie though.
Relax with the CGI folks. The movie is still a long way off. Plenty of time to fix it up. Remember that Superbowl Iron Man trailer where he blew up that tank? Looked like video game graphics. End result when the movie was released… badass!
Dunno if the movie will be any good, but I'm a sucker for superhero movies and will see any of them once. That, and my son demands to see them!
The CG makes the suit appear surreal and otherworldly. It makes sense to me now.
Whoah. That looks like all kinds of awful, as in Mystery-Science-Theater- 3000 awful.
(shrugs) At least Cowboys and Aliens looks kick ass.
