In news that should shock only those who are fools, Paranormal Activity creator Oren Peli told DreadCentral yesterday that plans for a 3rd film were in the works, and a release date already locked in.
Peli says to look for Paranormal Activity 3 on October 21 (yes, 21), 2011, but no word on any story plans just yet. #2 ended with a cliffhanger of sorts, so maybe they’ll explore that. Regardless of how they proceed, PA2 was a huge financial hit (currently standing at $156 million off of a $3 million budget), and even got some critics to chime in about their love of the film. So news of a 3rd film was only a matter of protocol.

Still haven't seen this movie yet.. Saw the 1st one at midnight when it came out in a packed house and I was probably the oldest one in the place.. The most annoying thing about the movie was the goofy boyfriend.. Is he like that in the 2nd movie, stirring up shit with a ouija board like he did last time since it's a prequel and he's in it???
I'm not sure I understand the "(yes, 21)" statement…?
21… as in not Halloween.
Obviously the plan is to have a horror movie in theaters just before Halloween, because then it'll get a spike in tickets rather than a drop. That's especially true of a "word of mouth" series like this. If you release a horror movie actually on Halloween, it's got nowhere to go but down.

The scene in PA2 where she's sitting in the kitchen all alone before the attack, scared the bejesus out of me in the theater. That has to be one of the best jump scares ever and I've probably seen most of them over the years.
