Bloody Disgusting got their hands on two important pieces for Underworld fans yesterday, regarding the upcoming 4th installment: the title and the plot.
Labeled Underworld: New Dawn, the story is as follows: “After being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale) learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter, Nissa, and when she finds her they must stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all”.
If you’re a fan of the series then perhaps this is good news. The last entry, Rise of the Lycans, was a fairly well-received prequel, so it’ll be good to get back to the regular narrative in what could be Beckinsale’s last outing in the franchise. Directors Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein are planning on 3D to help drum up more interest in the series, and are aiming at a March start date with a possible January 2012 release.
Thank to Felix for the tip.

I'm not ashamed to say that I really liked the prequel, despite thinking the original was somewhat dull and the first sequel was terrible. It probably helped having Michael Sheen as the main character and a different setting to the usual black and blue urban landscape. In a way, I'm almost disappointed that we have to return to Kate Beckinsale's storyline despite how good she looks in tight-fitting leather.
Hate this series.
Vampires vs Werewolves?
Interesting concept if you like that sort of thing.
Vampires vs Werewolves WITH GUNS???
Fucking lame.
OH GOD! Not another kid focused movie! Stop using kids as the crutch of your stories. THEY ALWAYS SUCK!! ALWAYS!!
Rise of the Lycan's was terrible, one of the worst movies of the decade. Unwatchable. A POS. And I like the first underworld, so its not like I don't generaly like this crap.
The 'kid angle" does not instill much confidence in me either, but Underworld (along with the Residence Evil films) are some of the most sugary bad for you junk food movie franchises out there, and I love every one of them. I am wary, but at the same time curious to see what the next film will be like. And heck, even if it's awful, you can't dismiss how drop dead gorgeous Kate Beckinsale looks in tight leather.
I know. First True Grit has a kid in it, and now this. Didn't they learn anything from Let The Right One In? Putting kids in movies is ALWAYS a bad idea.
Oh yes, I so agree #6. Ugh, True Grit is such a disaster, and so was Kick-Ass. ALWAYS a bad idea. Are we alone on this???
God damn, I hate these movies. The world needs another blue-tinted, dour action movie like it needs a hole in the head.
New "Dawn"? 14 yr old daughter? Does she sparkle?
I've only seen the second film. It stands as the worst movie I have ever paid to see in a cinema. I have no interest in seeing any of the others.
The only Underworld movie I didn't like was the first one. The second was quite good, and the prequel was pretty ok.
That said, in this day and age any movie featuring vampires that are glitter-less and actually kick ass is good in my books.
