Much has already been said about remakes in general, especially in the case of Let Me In, which is the American version of the 2008 Swedish horror film Let The Right One In. Is it necessary to redo such a recent movie?
While I’ll leave that one up to the masses to discuss, I will say that it’s probably best to see both movies and base your decision on each of the film’s merits (or lack thereof). And if you missed Matt Reeves’ (Cloverfield) version in theaters, never fear: shortly after the new year, you can watch it in the comfort of your own home.
Per the press release:
Genre fans and DVD aficionados will be thrilled with the generous amount of bonus features on the Let Me In Blu-ray™ and DVD, including the much-talked-about visual effects piece, “Car Crash Sequence Step-By-Step”, with commentary from Director Matt Reeves; “From The Inside: A Look at the Making of Let Me In”; “The Art of Special Effects”; Unrated Deleted Scenes; Trailer Gallery: Greenband Trailer, Redband Trailer; and a Poster and Still Gallery. The Blu-ray™ edition also includes the Blu-ray™ exclusive: “Dissecting Let Me In”, as well as a digital copy of the film. And if that wasn’t enough, both editions include a Let Me In comic book with an exclusive cover designed by award-winning comic book artist Sean Phillips. A graphic novel will be released next year.
Being released on February 1st, 2011 by Anchor Bay Entertainment, the Blu-ray will set you back $39.99, while the DVD will run $29.98.

Love the movie, but that is one ugly cover. The movie had beautiful posters, too. What a shame
This isn't an article. This is a cut'n'paste press release. CHUD should not do this.
Thank you for this advertisement.
The redo question wasn't about recentness, it was about foreign-ness. The Vanishing was how many years ago now? Quick turn-around foreign remakes are part of the business. But yeah, this and the Saturday Morning Cartoons thing…how much turkey did you fuckers eat?
#4–Personally, I like the Saturday morning thing…it's fun. I enjoy reconsidering the Saturday mornings of my youth (Gilligan's Planet, anyone?). But I do agree. If we're going to talk about remaking foreign films for the American market, let's actually talk about it, dissect the merits and demerits, and so on. No need for a press release. That's why I go to sites that focus on bluray releases…when I come to CHUD (which, I admit, gets less of my reading time than it used to), I want discussion and thought. Along with a good dose of snarkiness, to be sure. Never thought I'd say this, because I disagreed with him 80% of the time, but I find myself missing Devin.
"the much-talked-about visual effects piece, “Car Crash Sequence Step-By-Step”, with commentary from Director Matt Reeves" —
Yeah, I don't know about you guys but me and my friends have hardly talked about anything else for the last few months. Are these marketing people even human?
All you people do is bitch. Go outside, get some fresh air, try to find a girlfriend. Anything to get you whiny bitches away from the keyboard.
Is it safe to think this movie is better than the original? Because it is.
First, thanks for deleting my first post CHUD! I guess you don't like people expressing their opinions of the film under your ad for the Let Me In blu-ray. Second, #7 or "Matt", you're coming on here to bitch at the bitchers! What does that say about you? Maybe your the one who needs a girlfriend.
Just read the book, which was amazing (and so much grimmer than the Swedish movie). Hoped the remake would incorporate Hakan's 'arc' from the book, culminating in Tommy's role in it (fuck, that was grim reading – and truly horrific), but just read on Wikipedia that it didn't. Will probably still give it a go though.
No matter how much CHUD.com loves the director of this movie, it will not make this movie any better. It had promise but it doesn't add anything.
Where the hell do they get those MSRP's? $30 bucks for a DVD? Unless you buy them at Barnes and Noble (without a membership card), maybe…but the rest of the country will have them at $15 bucks at release and then in the bargain bin by Smarch!
So if CHUD is just ads now does that mean adblock will start blocking the whole thing soon?
I don't mind them posting these press releases as long as they're for movies that CHUD readers might actually care about. And this is one of those. So I'm find with this.
