Dimension Films has announced that the sequel to Piranha 3D, now titled Piranha 3DD, will be hitting theaters on September 16th 2011. That’s just a little over a year from Piranha 3D‘s August release. John Gulager of Feast fame will direct from a script by his frequent collaborators Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton.
Will the silly title mean we can expect to see more cameos on par with that of Gianna Michaels’? One can only hope…
Those of you who missed the first film can catch it when it hits on DVD and Blu-ray 3D on January 11th, although much like My Bloody Valentine 3D this doesn’t feel like the kind of movie that will work at home. Shitty films can make for fun theatrical experiences, especially ones with as much blood and boobs as Piranha 3D.

Gulager is the Project Greenlight dude, right? Always wondered if he was still working in the biz..
Of all the movies I can kick myself for not seeing in the theater this past summer, it's this one. Unfortunately no one I knew wanted to go see it, so there's also that.
OMG hes the Son of Clu — he must rock.
Easily the most fun I had at the cinema in 2010. So, based on that, and that fantastic title for the sequel (although they had better be natural DD boobies – I don't want any fake silicone DD boobies 3Ding in my face thanks.
Gianna Michaels is all natural. Or so I've heard.
Considering how utterly unwatchable, unfunny, and just plain bad the Feast sequels were, nobody should expect much from Gulager.
