To this day, Transformers 2 is something that has not happened to me. With movies like that, there tends to be a lot of talk along the lines of “trash it all you want, you know you’ll see it” and in this very specific case, I can say that I didn’t. The film is starting to make the cable rounds though(I’ve been making a trip home on Sundays to catch Boardwalk Empire– my father was watching Revenge of the Fallen when I arrived this last weekend), so there’s a chance it may yet happen to me in some form or another. The new teaser trailer for Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon definitely happened to me, and it can happen to you too below, or at it’s home on Apple Trailers.
Per usual, I’ve yanked stills you can take a look at, and as you can see the trailer is pretty straightforward- mysterious titles over a recreation of the moon landing, with a surprising twist that reveals the astronaut’s secret activities during their 21 minutes of radio silence. Neil and company run across what I assume to be the Autobot’s Arc (even I know that bit of Trans-lore) filled with many inactive bots. Eventually we are given a nice close-up view of a metal gentleman who I’m told looks suspiciously like Alpha Trion, an original transformer and the dude who made Optimus Prime (in some canon, at least). I’m sure there are many more important details to be pointed out about the character, if it is in fact Alpha Trion that shows up in the trailer. I’m also noticing a great deal of speculation that Bay’s return to space will mean that Unicron makes an appearance, perhaps even being converted to Moonicron. I wouldn’t put it past Bay to make the Moon a transformer, so it’s likely as not. Hell, maybe the Armageddon asteroid can cameo!
This will hit theaters on July 1st, 2011 in 3D, a format Michael Bay loved shooting in- don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

This is the third fucking Transformers movie and they're still playing it up in these trailers like it's such a big deal to tease showing the robots. We've already seen two fucking movies, why not show SOMETHING. Instead we get a re-enactment of the moon landing with a glimpse of a robot at the end. BORING!!!
Is that last screenshot the beginning of a transforming goatse?
Fuck you transformers, fuck you michael bay, fuck you slack jawed fans and fuck you Renn you devin wannabe
Sounds like a retcon to me. Odd that this "happened" and it was never mentioned in the first film when they had this big alien robot guy hidden under the Hoover Dam…
Just enjoy the damn movie, quit whinning about it. Plain and simple, stop putting yourself through the pain of watching it or exposing yourself to it. I will enjoy this as I have the previous films. Take it for what its worth, not like your life depends on it boys and girls. breath easy for a change.
Michael Bay is at least attempting at a smarter approach, rather than robo-balls. I give him credit to that and also to cutting a rather fantastic trailer with some crazy cool twists.
The robot face at least looks like a face. Maybe the designs have improved a bit for this one. I'll see it like I saw Transformers 2 … when HBO has a free preview weekend.
DAMN YOU MICHAEL BAY
By the way, Cory Streeter – please, please kill yourself. Die, die, die you fucking douchebag moron. You are the reason Michael Bay gets to exist. You are anathema and die.
At least Michael Bay didn't ruin Beast Wars.
I'd say this movie series needs a reboot… but I think what it actually needs is just a plain old boot. To the nuts. The big, metal robo-nuts.
Another shitty teaser that has fuck-all to do with the actual movie, just like the one he made for the first Transformers that was inexplicably about robots on Mars. God, these movies are dreadful and oh-so disappointing. I can't believe that STEPHEN SOMMERS made a better movie based on a toyline than either of these cinematic abortions. When you have to get STEPHEN FUCKING SOMMERS To show you how to do your goddamn job, you must really be sucking shit straight from the goat's anus.
In the Transformers 4 trailer they are going to show that it was actually a Decepticon that shot and killed Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand and started WWI. Good to see Michael Bay raping the the memories of my Grandparent's generation. That said, I liked Revenge of the Fallen actually.
I refused to watch Revenge of the Fallen and I'll refuse to watch Dark of the Moon. As far as I'm concerned, Michael Bay doesn't have a f***ing clue how to do a good Transformers movie. I'd rather watch the 80s Animated Movie with Hot Rod and Unicron than this s***.
I find it endlessly hilarious that only white people were bitching and moaning about the so-called "racism" in Transformers 2. No one else gave a shit. White guilt is awesome!
Anyone else get an Alien vibe when the astronauts discover the crashed ship?
Cory – "Just enjoy the damn movie"….
Sorry, I just can't enjoy shitty writing, no matter how kewl the effects are.
The first transformers movie was neat and just like everyone else on the planet, we wondered if maybe the inevitable sequel was going to be better. It wasn't by a long shot, but I'll give Bay and Co. one more chance at this, just to see if they've learned anything from that travesty.
"LLLLLEEEEENNNSSS FFFLLLLAAAAAAARRRE!!!"
-Excerpt from Transformers 3 Script
I think it's awesome that the Transformer in the trailer is getting involved with Movember.
