Coming Soon
has word, via Universal, that the upcoming 47 Ronin, starring Keanu
Reeves, will be in 3D. In their words, the film will be “produced and released”
in 3D. So not sure if that means it’ll be a post conversion
or if they’ve whipped out the extra camera for the shoot.
Universal is showing a lot of faith in director Carl Rinsch, who to date
has only done shorts. The film will mix the real tale of the
47 masterless samurai who avenge the death of their master in 1702 in
Japan with fantasy elements.
Reeves will be portraying one of the swordsmen. In addition, according to IMDB,
he’s also rumored for the role of John in Generation Um….
That film reportedly is a drama that follows three adults during a
single day in Los Angeles, one filled with sex, drugs, and
indecision.
47 Ronin opens on Novemeber 21, 2012.

I'm assuming one of the "fantasy elements" is the inclusion of a gaijin as a samurai?
No, you see if you get really drunk and squint a bit, Keanu totally looks a smidgen of a bit slightly Asian. Even more so if you wear glasses and drop them in your drunken stumbling about.
Yeah, what? The Ghost of their master, perhaps?
Reeves is part Asian I think, although I believe it's Chinese. He's sort of a mutt.
