Meaningless and overblown awards time! First up, THE GOLDEN GLOBES.
As life moves forward the actual value of a lot of these awards show their true colors and reveal them to be vacant popularity contests with little to no indication of quality or significance. But still we subject ourselves to them. The fact True Grit‘s not on here is telling. The fact a lot of movies aren’t on here is telling. Anyhow, the nominations have been announced and here’s the list with my sly feelings on the matter. I’ve included a helpful color code to portray my personal take on the matter.

I've seen every episode of Dexter there is, I even reviewed whole seasons on CHUD. It's gotten boring to me.

Good for Melissa Leo, she deserves more love for being great in everything she does.

I'm pretty sure they nominated Red after looking at the cast list and never watched a single minute of the film.

How To Train Your Dragon deserved a nomination for Best Score. Completely robbed. Especially considering some of the choices they did go with. Ugh.
Wait, so how can a movie be red ("deserves to win"), but the acting nominees be gray ("I haven't seen enough of it to form a fair opinion")? I mean, for "The Kids are All Right", Bening was good, but you didn't see enough of Moore's performance? "Social Network" deserves to win, but you didn't catch enough of the performance of the guy that's in almost every scene of the movie? There are a LOT of inconsistencies like that on this list, and if you're saying that something should win because you like the people involved (something something popularity contest), and not because you've actually seen it, then that's just fucking stupid.
127 Hours needs a best picture and director nomination…. oh and the Walking Dead is pretty good.

Walking Dead can suck a dick. Each episode after the first one was worse than the last. Boardwalk Empire and The Pacific were frickin' awesome.

Inception. Inception. In-fucking-ception! It was the best movie I've seen this year. Stop with the "blockbuster bias", dammit! Well, at least he got a nomination this time. Something should be said for Nolan's capability to make a massive blockbuster a good, intelligent film at the same time as it being a fucking blast. The guy is always snubbed by the Hollywood elite, and it's fucking ridiculous. He is definitely the most talented, original MAINSTREAM director around. I love the Coen bros., and True Grit should probably have multiple nominations, but it's almost refreshing to see other directors getting some love. Oh yeah, and why the fuck isn't Duvall nominated for Get Low? Are you kidding me? Well, from the noms here, my picks are Inception for pic, Nolan for director, Jennifer Lawrence for actress, Gosling or Franco for actor, and Toy Story 3 for animated.
I like NatPort but her character in BS had that permanent constipated look grafted on her face, regardless whether she was masturbating or dancing. I was very disappointed with the movie and found the story over-wrought without any sense of subtlety and the characters all one-dimensional.

I agree #24. Inception is the best film of 2010 but it won't win because of it's stigma as a "summer blockbuster", which is retarded because if it opened in December it would probably be the top contender right now. Instead one of the recently released smaller films will win. What will it take for Nolan to please these awards giving assholes? I don't understand the snub for DiCaprio either. After his one-two-punch of Shutter Island and Inception, he's never been better. But instead we get Mark fucking Wahlberg, and while The Fighter was good, I personally think he was the weakest link in the entire cast. I also think Boyle should've beaten out O. Russell for that last director spot.
Not one nod to True Grit is a crime. And no, Walking Dead doesn't deserve to be on a best of list, no matter how cool some might think it was… it wasn't THAT good.
The Walking Dead is ridiculously overrated. And that's an opinion coming from someone who loves him some Darabont. But the writing on TWD has just been atrocious.
Glad to see Jennifer Lawrence and Claire Danes got nominations. Winter's Bone wasn't perfect, but Lawrence was wonderful, and Temple Grandin was one of the best films I saw this year, and Danes knocked it out of the park.
Wow, did you really just highlight 127 Hours film score in red? I though that was one of the worst scores I have noticed in quite a long time. It was annoying, horribly produced, and did nothing for the film, except take me out of it.
