Director Tom Shadyac had it all. As the director of some very silly and very successful movies (Ace Ventura, Liar Liar, The Nutty Professor, Bruce Almighty, etc.) he was living the good life, mansions, women, the works.
It was all sunshine and roses until he got in a cycling accident and was nearly crippled for life. Coming out of the accident a changed man he sold off his house and moved to a mobile home community, sick of Hollywood and all the fakeness within. He set out around the world with a camera crew to see how he can improve his life and this film I Am, his first non-fiction work, is the product.
Paladin just sent over the first official trailer, check it out below but mind the life-affirming sappiness. You’ll get it all over you.
theaters February 2011.

Dear, God. Please tell me that's not serious.
The SHIFT is about to hit the fan? Please kill me now.
Gary Busey was in a cycle accident and made Predator 2. Advantage: Busey.
I read about this in THE NEW YORKER maybe a month ago. The documentary may suck, but if falling off a bike can prevent him from making shitty comedies then I've got a list of other filmmakers I'd like to see fall of bikes.
More of the same garbage spewed from the patch adams puke factory. What an absolute joke. Self serving, simplistic… Looks like some half assed amateur's take on a documentary. Thinks what's wrong with the word is some earth shattering question he's the first person to come up with. What a joke.
I read the New Yorker article, too. This douche wants to be the next Oprah. I shit you not. You may begin hating him… now. Thank you.
Hmm… Trey Parker's gonna have a field day about this. He once described Shadyac as one of his least favorite directors and wishing that he could force him to direct Team America 2, because they had a miserable time making it.
Wow, it's like the trailer is saying that Shadyac is starting a new religion based on some incredible scientific discovery.
Shadyac reminds me a lot of a guy on public access tv who hosted a new age show about how to achieve your dreams and be happy, read tarot cards, and use crystals. He apparently only started believing that stuff after he was mugged and shot in the head, though you'd never know it by meeting him (unless you got him going about tarot cards or crystals, badum bum).
Brain damage is a hell of a thing.
To be clear, it's not like he moved to a trailer park in detriot. He lives in a trailer park in malibu. Not to far from hollywood, and you still need to have a ton of money to live there.
My god, this film is going to change EVERYTHING! I hope there's a book I can buy that will explain it in further detail afterwards. Perhaps a speaking tour as well! And a TV channel! I think I'll shift my pants!
