Konami wants to dampen some pants. Game Informer reports that Silent Hill 8, titled “Silent Hill: Downpour,” brings players back to the purgatorial monster ranch during a torrential rainstorm. Details are scant, but expect a flood of dates, images, and more information in the next few days.
Besides a few welcome surprises on the PSP, Konami hasn’t done much with the Silent Hill franchise since the near-perfect second game. We’re hoping that untested Czech developer Vatra games can summon up some fresh ideas… and can avoid shoehorning Pyramid Head into the game yet again.
Bonus aside: the most terrifying water level in gamedom is Left 4 Dead 2’s Hard Rain campaign. So many witches!

Trevor – totally agree with the near perfection of game two. Loved it. If they can shoot for that kind of atmosphere with the latest, they’ll get my money for it.
