There was a brief dust-up earlier today when the NYT reported that a legal skirmish between the HFPA and Dick Clark Productions might keep 2012’s Golden Globes ceremony off the air, saying “In a little-noticed court filing on Tuesday, lawyers for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which presents the Globes, said there might not be time to find a new producer, a network and advertisers for next January’s show if the association’s legal dispute with its longtime producer, Dick Clark Productions, continued at the current pace.”
That doesn’t seem to be the case however, as Deadline brings us word – directly from the HFPA – that “Dick Clark can suck a dick and the Globes are a Go.” They didn’t actually say that. Here’s what they DID say:
“Regardless of the legal proceedings with Red Zone and Dick Clark Productions, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will present the Sixty-Ninth Annual Golden Globe Awards Show as scheduled in January 2012. The show will go on, with or without dcp.”
The whole thing was brought on by a lawsuit filed by the HFPA that said, in essence, that DCP had renewed the show’s license with NBC through 2018 without consulting the HFPA, among other things. With the trial set to start on December of this year, it did look a little shaky for next year’s broadcast, but there you have it.

I really wish the worst picture and worst prequel/remake/etc categories had the exact same nominees.
I dont get why Saw would even get a nomination. The 3D was one of the saving graces of that movie. Really worked well for the traps.
The Razzies could be glorious. They could be entertaining. You could make a whole damn two hour annual television special out of it if you had some brains and creativity. Instead we get this. Boring, obvious, dull, pointless, dull, boring, who cares.
I was really hoping for Jeff Bridges to be nominated for Tron: Legacy because I’m pretty sure he’s going to get nominated for True Grit(sadly, I haven’t seen either). I just wanted someone to be nominated Best Actor and Worst Actor. Has that ever happened?
Last year Sandra Bullock won best actress Oscar for Blind Side and worst actress Razzie for All About Steve.
I know these are just in fun, and the movie was so far from perfect, but Sly as worst director? Seriously?
I really hope that The Last Airbender ‘wins’ all of these awards -hopefully then M. Night will know to stay the hell away from the series forever
Yeah, the Razzies could be so much more – but perhaps it’s for the best they haven’t sold out and turned totally manistream. I still like the fact they exist and at least for a little while put a spotlight of shame that usually deserve it – koff Clash of the Titans. In the 80s I always hated it when STALLONE was up for an award though, I despied them for it. But yet here we are and I fully support them for putting him up there for The Expendables because it WAS his directing (as well as the action -editing)that moslty spoilt it. And although I haven’t seen it perhaps Jack Black’s name there
will at least make him consider what to do nextfor a little longer
than 2 minutes.
