I’m not sure why, but love that glass of “blue milk” next to Luke in the A NEW HOPE poster.
So there is no copyright infringement to do this type of stuff or can anyone make a poster of a movie and then sell it for profit?

I was excited to see his interpretation of Bane… oh. He doesn’t have one.
Once again, posters I hate. And once again, I have to play the graphic designer card on the Batman poster. Uncreative, confusing (why 2 Catwomen and why are they missing backs?) and far too symmetrical. This site really has a style it when it comes to art; hipster. I assume the posters put up on here are mostly from different artists, yet I can’t tell the difference between this and the Edgar Wright crap from a few weeks ago.

I agree, it’s a pretty bland poster. Definitely has that overly-done hipster taking on art deco vibe that’s been everywhere lately. I do like the star wars one with Luke sitting. Simple, but it works.
Yup the Dark Knight poster is pretty lackluster.
I can knock something like that up in Adobe Illstrator in about 30 minutes then delete it because it’s so unimaginative.
Star Wars ones are better but still a bit meh.

Am I the only one that thinks this is a ridiculous title for the movie? How many times must a sequel/prequel have ‘Rising’ in the title, come up with something fresh and original Nolan like you do with all of your other films

This is entirely awesome.
You have to view these as “art” and not marketing tools or successful posters. From any reasonable graphic design perspective, you are correct – these are nightmares of composition that completely fail to serve their purpose. As abstract art, they’re rather lovely, though.
Sorry wd40, but I disagree. The two “catwomen” represent the duality of Selina Kyle and her role in Batman’s life (nemesis and lover), balancing perfectly with the forced symmetry of the piece, which is more than befitting our Dark Knight, who’s all about order and control. It also does a nice job of representing his own internal struggle and conflicted nature. All in all, a very nice image.
Star Wars posters are also the tits. 😉
The Star Wars ones look like they should have been paperback covers circa 1970, and I mean that in a fantastic way. I don’t really care for the Batman one, though.
