From Hellraiser: Hellworld to Superman. That’s the natural progression for stardom.
Henry Cavill has been cast as Superman/Clark Kent in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. What that means is; for the next several years he will be called a ‘rock star’ by his director. And he’ll be rich and famous.
He’s best known for his role on cable’s The Tudors and for having the middle name Dalgliesh (translation: He Who Walks Between the Rows) and from his appearance in the picture above he’s a big ball of sex and jawbones and will make at least a pretty Supergentleman. He’s also a solid actor, which is nice.
If you didn’t know, this Superman incarnation comes from the minds of Christopher Nolan (yay!) and David Goyer (uh-oh!) and is based on the series of comics and pulp that have entertained billions since back in the day.
Talk amongst yourselves. I’m already bored of this character and his continued life onscreen.

Hellworld’s a nasty pool to pull from. Woulda been much nicer to cast a Supes from Hellbound or Hell on Earth.
This character needs a worthwhile story. It’s tough to try and be positive about something so played out and tired. Fingers crossed that the Nolan/Snyder collaboration makes magic. We’ll see.
Hopefully this choice works out in the end.
Everyone in the Channel Islands are probably celebrating today. Has anyone else from there ever been famous? I might have to Wiki this.
So Batman, Spider-Man and now Superman are all being played by British actors. That must be some kind of record. I’m happy for Cavill, but…isn’t it true McG wanted him to play the Man of Steel? Is Chris Nolan feeding on McG’s leftovers?
Could some talented individual find some clips of him acting and speed ramp them?
It’s still being directed by Zack Snyder.
Nick Nunziata, I think your article on the new, Kal-El, is just…SUPER, MAN! I am hopeful, that the kryptonite that affected, Superman’s Return, will be fixed under the excellent direction of, ZackSnyder
It would be cool to see Superman punch something again, at any speed. The last thing he punched was a dude named Pillow and that was over 20 years ago.
J David Rhodes, Superman didn’t even punch Luthor, when he was…Depowered on the Kryptonite Island Of Doom! The only way, I would want to see Lex Luthor is if he is in Mad Scientist Mode, complete with powered armor. While he would be…Perfectly Cast as, Any villain, I would love to see, Jason Issacs as Lex Luthor, or a Kryptonian villain that could even a superbeing not General Zod!
i must have missed the snyder story during the redesign, good choice.
